Jag fans to owner: Sign The Golden Calf of Bristol and Sell Out Games

So, apparently a guy named Dewey has put an ad out addressed to the owner of the Jaguars, telling him that if he signs The Golden Calf of Bristol... they will sell out the stadium.

I agree with Stephen A. Smith. Sure, maybe one sellout. Maybe two. Eventually the novelty wears out.

I also don't get The Golden Calf of Bristol. I mean, if he's serious about this NFL QB thing, then go to the CFL. It worked for Warren Moon, Jeff Garia, Joe Theisman, and Doug Flutie. Show people you can play and the NFL will pay attention. I just don't see how this guy can get cut in camp and sit at home... expecting phone calls. He has proven nothing to anybody. He had one nice run years ago. Go to the CFL and prove yourself.

I think his ego is too strong to make him a great QB, NFL or elsewhere.

Timmy The Golden Calf of Bristol used to be on my sh!t list. I couldn't stand the much deserved hype that he was getting for obvious reasons. Hell, I was rooting for him to come in for Sanchize last year just to prove that he is hot garbage and he would be forgotten forever. Honestly, I want him to go back home and play for the Jaguars. It's a win-win situation. Who knows, he may have more of that The Golden Calf of Bristol magic left and get the Jags relevant. I doubt it, but it would be fun to watch. Personally, I want him to play and flame out to oblivion. He's a definite shoe in if he ever runs for Governor of Florida. Just sayin.

Teebs doesn't have his mind right if he wants to play in the NFL... that or he's getting really bad advice.  He could make it on a team as an RB/FB/STs player.  Him saying "I'll only ever play QB is just dumb..."

At the same time, the Jags are nuts not to sign him even if it only boosts sales for a few games... what else have they got?

I miss The Golden Calf of Bristol magic. If he's so bad then why did the Broncos play so well with him under center? They weren't doing anything with Kyle Orton and Kyle Orton is still in the NFL.

I think the league doesn't focus on talent enough. You get mainstays and people who fit a certain set of requirements unrelated to football.

Chad Henne does nothing but lose. Soon as Matt Moore took over the reigns the Dolphins did a 180. And Matt Moore was much better than Delhomme after Delhomme had the Tommy Jone fiasco, no disrespect to Delhomme and I see why he started but I wonder what would've happened if Moore took over an 2008. Maybe that Cardinals game is more interesting.

Similarly the Jets have been doing nothing with Sanchez and planned to start Sanchez. Now they have Geno Smith in and he's making some plays. Still work to be done but he's making strides.

Give a guy a chance and you'll be surprised. Wasn't James Harrison once cut from a practice squad?

The guy had a good run. How often do we see the same story in the NFL? People act like The Golden Calf of Bristol was the only time the NFL experienced this Cinderella story. It's not true. It's often a broken record: new QB has a nice little run, magical season... and that's it. Proof! Their done!

Just look at Kordell Stewart. He was magical in 2001. He was the offensive player of the year, threw for 3,000 yards and the Steelers went 13-3. Everybody was jumping for joy about him. What happened?

Well, actually Kordell Stewart reminds me a lot of The Golden Calf of Bristol. Kordell refused to be "slash" and demands to be a "QB" first. Sort of reminds me of The Golden Calf of Bristol whining about being asked to play another position. Fact is, they both were all-around guys that could give you a little bit of this and a little bit of that and might give you a nice run or two but day in and day out, left you with a whole lot of nothing.
