So why in the hell did we have the wind in our face the second half.  That could have screwed us if we needed a fg.  Plus it helped the Patriots on that punt.

They deferred I think and that allowed them to choose which side of the field they got. At least I think that is the way it worked. I don't think the wind was quite as big of a factor as I and the announcers thought it would be.

Have to look up the rules.  Thought for sure the team that wins the coin flip chooses if they receive or defer. The team that loses chooses which side of the field.

If you win the toss, you choose whether to accept the ball or defer.  The other team chooses which way they're going.
