Frantisek Kaberle may have his contract bought out by the Carolina Hurricanes.

The 35-year-old defenseman is coming into the final year of his contract that will pay him $2.2 million in 2009-10. The Hurricanes still think that Kaberle can play, but the move will free up some much needed cap room. "It's not that we think [Kaberle] can't play anymore," GM Jim Rutherford said. "But it would free up some cash and allow us to change the defense the way we want to and give it more of a physical aspect." Stay tuned.
