Be very careful...

lightsout

more or less i wear a good portion of my gear..new hat, new sweatpants, one of either smith's, williams', or johnson's jerseys and in this lovely ten degree weather at least one hoodie.  i typically go to the closest thing to a quality sports bar we have in town, which is oddly bartended by a guy who moved up here 8 years ago from nc.  he was amazed to see me and given that i am by nature a bit paranoid and skeptical of strangers, i thought he was ribbing me.  but hey, up here, panther fans don't grow on trees and i hope he'll get free time to watch what i hope is one of our all-time classic games.

I'm almost 2 hours late, but I felt it necessary to say this.

Be very careful from now until the game. Whatever you have done these past few weeks, keep doing it. Don't stray from your rituals. Don't put on that new Kuechly jersey you got if you've been wearing a different one this season. Don't watch the game on the couch when you damn well know you've been in the recliner all season.

And since we're here, what are some of your rituals for game day? What do you do to give us mojo?

Me personally, it changes each season it seems. This season, I've been wearing the same Panthers t-shirt and pair of jeans. I eat lunch precisely 30 minutes before kickoff (will be dinner tonight) and I put a dip in seconds before kickoff. That dip stays in the whole first half. I add on one time (the commercial break between the 1st and 2nd quarter). I take it out right at halftime, drink something, and put another dip in before the second half starts. My rules for the first half are the same for the 2nd.

All of these seem very minor, but the games I didn't wear the shirt, we've lost. The times I haven't had a dip in, we've struggled (and, on the other side, once one goes in, we're good to go). This one was reinforced for me when we played the 9ers. So, I'm sticking with it. I'm willing to get cancer if it means a Super Bowl run.

I wear no official Panthers swag, but I rock an old hoodie with exactly the right color blue.  I retired my Beason jersey and that's basically when the win streak started.  Every game day, I make a big fire in my backyard fire pit and cook something in the hot coals. This time its going to be applewood smoked sausages.

I also have to wear my lucky boxers.  TMI?  Don't care.  Go Panthers!

If I was a therapist I could make a killing off you whack jobs.

I watch from the living room, sitting on the uncomfortable ottoman because it's been working. I drink a beer each quarter and threaten to murder anyone who interrupts me. I wear the black Cam jersey with the gray Cam under armour t shirt underneath.

I love being normal like you fugs.
