If the chiefs give up 18 points to the broncos tonight...

They give up 18 or more we allow less ppg

I'm no math major but through 9 games KC has allowed 111 points. (12.33 ppg).  Through 9 games we have allowed 115 points (12.77 ppg).  Hypothetically speaking if we shut out New England then through 10 games we would have allowed 115 points (11.5 ppg).  If KC gave up 5 points against Denver then they would have allowed 116 points (11.6 ppg).  So I'm wondering why the magic number of 18?  Am I missing something?

it's actually 17.  17 points means KC will have allowed 128 points through 10 games (12.8 ppg) vs our 12.77 PPG.  It's only valid until we play our game tomorrow.  Like I said, we'll likely have the top scoring defense for only a day.

We're talking PPG, not total points allowed.

Yes, you are. If KC gives up exactly 17 they will have allowed 12.8 ppg, Panthers have allowed 12.77 ppg in games actually played.  So, Panters #1 until their game Monday.

Based on score with 5 minutes left, KC has allowed 13.8 points per game. For Carolina to remain #1, they would have to give up less than 23 points to the Patriots.
