Yes, you saw what Cam did without a great defense. 6-10 and 7-9 respectively. His stats have been pretty consistent from his rookie year, improving slightly.

RW would probably be in the same boat as Cam without his surrounding cast. Same stats but different record.

Cam didn't do 6-10 and 7-9, the Panthers did. Cam put up good numbers even with a defense that let teams march down the field and hold onto the ball and starting possessions deep in our territory (most TD drives of 80+ yards, etc). I like Wilson, but his already pedestrian numbers would be considerably worse if his defense wasn't forcing short possessions and good field position.

Those pedestrian numbers are better than Cam's

 

100 rating over his career > 80 something over Cam's

 

Even this year, with the best defense in the league, Cam averages ~88
