History of the Eagles - PFA!

Went to see and hear the Eagles last night. I rate the show PFA.  Pretty Awsome. I wont admit that Joe stole the show.  He is a great addition to the Eagles. Funk 49 and Ricky Mt. Way anong with Life's been Good to me so Far were definate highlights.  They played all the Eagles best songs but nothing at all from Long Road Out Of Eden. Excellent show for a bunch of old guys. But look at the audience.  The placed was packed.  Tickets were a birthday gift from my daughters.  I love them so much.

Well worth the price of admission.

First time I saw the Eagles was in April 1974 at the first California Jam held at the original Ontario Motor Speedway. It was an all day affair and the Eagles were third on stage following the day's opening acts Rare Earth and Earth, Wind and Fire.

 

The Eagles had only a couple weeks before released their third album (On the Border) and took the stage around noon. They played James Dean, Midnight Flyer, Already Gone and Take it Easy. Jackson Browne played with the band and there are a couple YouTube vids out there showing their portion of the show. 

 

Saw the Eagles again in June 1996 in Greensboro and a couple more times since then. Easily one of the greatest bands of all time, their harmonies are still the best in the business and virtually everyone attending a concert will recognize every song they perform. 

 

Hey, LT, you do realize Joe Walsh joined the Eagles in late 1975 before they recorded and released Hotel California in 1976, right? You can't really call him an "addition" to the band considering he replaced Barry Leadon and has been with them for 38 years now, lol.

The show went from 10AM to about 11:30PM and the tickets were $10. There were supposedly 250,000 people in the infield of the speedway for the show. I still have a poster from the show...

If you saw The History of the Eagles on Showtime, they were planning the tour then and Leadon was going to be a part of the tour as well as Don Felder (in spite of the lawsuit and bad blood from years ago) and Randy Meisner. But Don Henley, as brilliant a songwriter and vocalist as he may be, also has an ego the size of Madison Square Garden and still holds a grudge against Felder. Meisner is continuing to recover from some health issues, so the big 'ol reunion tour is going to missing a few original members.

I'm going in February I believe with almost my entire family. Mom, dad, sister, brother. We've never done anything on this scale as a family before, so I hope for a grand old time!!
