LEFTOVERS: Seifert > Fox and Fox > Rivera

Skill players Seifert left to Fox:

Offense:

WR Steve Smith

WR Muhsin Mohammad

FB Brad Hoover

C Jeff Mitchell

OT Todd Steussie

Defense:

DT Kris Jenkins

DT Brentson Buckner

DE Mike Rucker

MLB Dan Morgan

S Mike Minter

K John Kasay

Pre-Analysis:

In hindsight, Seifert left a TON to Foxy. He basically built his D-line for him. All Fox did was draft Peppers to seal up the other book end with Rucker. Seifert also gave Fox a future HOFer in Smitty and a very solid #2 with Moose. I threw Brad Hoover in there because how much he meant to the running game, which we all know is what Fox was known for. Not to mention Klutch Kasay

Players Fox added to make a Contender:

Offense:

QB Jake Delhomme

RB Stephen Davis

WR Ricky Proel

Defense:

DE Julius Peppers

OLB Will Witherspoon

CB Ricky Manning Jr.

Post-Analysis:

Let's be perfectly honest- without the additions of Jake, Davis, Peppers and Spoon- the team doesn't even have a winning record. What Fox brought to the table was some Key players at Key positions AND a mental toughness the team never had before he arrived. Fox created a Thanksgiving Day banquet out of scraps on offense and sprinkled a little "pepper" on an inherited defense to make it all work.

Skill players Fox left to Rivera:

Offense:

RB DeAngelo Williams

RB Jonathan Stewert

WR Brandon Lafell

C Ryan Kalil

OT Jordan Gross

Defense:

DE Greg Hardy

DE Charles Johnson

OLB Thomas Davis

MLB Jon Beason

CB Captain Munnerlyn

S Charles Godfrey

Analysis:

Fox left a lot too, but most of the players were liabilities the time Rivera got a hold of them. Stewert and D.Will were probably the only things of note on that offensive team in 2010. Lafell was still mighty suspect at the time. Beason and Davis were both injury prone LBs- now Davis has become a true Leader, but I think most of us wouldn't have cared if Rivera released Davis at THE time. Munnerlyn isn't and hasn't been an All-Pro corner but has been reliable. Same respects to Godfrey. The only thing truly of note Fox left Rivera on Defense was the bookends- CJ and Kraken.

Players Rivera brought in to make a Contender:

Offense:

QB Cam Newton

RB Mike Tolbert

TE Greg Olsen

WR Tedd Ginn

Defense:

DT Dwan Edwards

DT Star Lotulelei

DT Kawann Short

LB Luke Kuechly

S Mike Mitchell

Post-Analysis:

The Next game is the most important right now.... TBD

    • I am not at all interested in even thinking about a WR or TE. Let's see how the combine goes. He would need a lot more than that film to impress me. For a guy who watches zero CFB I wasn't that impressed. Good hands but nothing screams top 10 pick with him to me. He looks solid but nothing more. That's what I want a 2nd round TE to look like, good physicals and hands but lacks meaningful separation.
    • I think Tepper is a terrible owner, but not because he doesn't want to win. He's a terrible owner because he is impatient and doesn't know what the fug he is doing.
