It's extremely possible, maybe even likely that we lose on Monday

To me this game is more significant than the Niners game.

Pats have been the gold standard since 2001 and generally the league looks out for them. The Panthers are basically the polar opposite of that.

A win Monday, in front of the Nation sets this team up for a roll that could possibly be magical. A loss could cause everyone to pump the breaks, especially if it is a big loss.

I love posts that bring up the past to justify the present as if teams many years ago and how they did have any bearing on this team.  How many of the current team were around between 1995-2008.  This is now between the current Patriot and Panther teams not how the Patriots did 5 or 10 years ago.  The Patriots are 2-2 on the road this year plain and simple.  And you could make a case that this team has as much or more talent than anyone we have ever had. Would you say that about the current Patriots squad?

Jase, we lost actually. That's another example like the Bears. Went in with all this confidence and then we got Nick Hayden'd.

The Giants beat us in 2008. We lost in overtime.

What game am I thinking of, then?  Damn.

Maybe it is just me believing in my team but I believe we will win sunday and in a convincing fashion. This is not the past. This is a new team with new faces with heart. I remember that Bears game and as I recall we didn't get destroyed. It was a very low scoring game. 13-6 maybe? But I remember us getting revenge in the playoffs. I believe this team has turned the corner and I am expecting them to win every week. I picked them in my football pool at work as well. Monday is a big game and believe Brady will be running for his life everytime he hikes the ball. I give BB and Brady credit but I will also give my boys credit. Go panthers!

Good point, even if we do lose like I'm personally predicting, it will NOT mean the sky is falling.

I think it's just being realistic. And if we DO win, I'm serious: If you have the means and money, you should start thinking about a Super Bowl trip because there will be no team in the league that should be favored against us then.

Yeah i understand but we are going win. Our boat game is just too strong (Riverboat and Tugboat)

Great point and I can't explain it. You're right, 1995 has zero bearing on 2013. But yet this same thing happens every year we're contending no matter the personnel or coaches.

I agree and disagree at the same time.  For me, this game is a resume building game.  In the grand scheme of things though, the 49ers game far outweighs this game for the future of this season.  The Niners win (while not as sexy as a win against the Pats on Monday night in front of the nation would be) is a conference win that puts us in the captains chair when it comes to playoff positioning (which is ultimately the main goal of this season....to get into the tourney).

While a Patriots loss would Suck, because it is at home in front of a national media and we all would like to shove it down Brady and Belicheat's throats; in the grand scheme of things a loss vs the Niners last week would have hurt far, far worse.
