Revising your analogy a bit...I feel like us (as girls) have some self-esteem issues built up over the years due to neglect and abuse (as fans). So even though we are beautiful voluptuous women now, it'll take a while to get over those self-esteem issues.

Another analogy that I think fits is us being like the nerdy girl at school that was always pretty cute but her beauty was hidden behind her glasses and unkempt hair. But lo and behold one day she takes off her glasses, puts a little makeup on, and fixes her hair a bit and wow she's a hottie! Who woulda known? So basically...the plot of She's All That if anyone has seen that classic. We've been a pretty good team the past couple years but have been afflicted by some bad luck in close games and some little fixable flaws. But now all of a sudden we're on a winning streak and the media is thinking "Wow this team is pretty good!"

I've been saying this for years about this board. It has to do with age. The younger you are, the more defensive you get if someone says anything negative about this team, or doesn't say we're good enough. It's comical. Bro rage!

Nah. Championships or not, I will live and die with my hometown Panthers. I'd rather stick a box cutter in my eye than envy some bandwagon fan infested squad like the Steelers, Pats, Broncos, or Cowboys.

Many simply state their opinion about an analyst when something is said about the panthers.  Doesn't always mean they are getting defensive.  Just means they don't value his/her opinion.
