Its easy to say the media doesn't matter, but they really do.

 

Positive national attention = more panthers fans.

 

more panthers fans = more ticket sales, higher paying sponsors, and merchandise sales.

 

All that = Ownership being more willing to invest into something heavily because of a positive ROI.

 

This is one of the reasons why I welcome bandwagoners.  This and if someone becomes a Panthers fan then there's one less Cowboys/Falcons/Steelers/fillinthefuggingblank fan that I have to listen to and (sports) hate.

So the media doesn't bow down and kiss our collective a$$ on a regular basis... So they have doubts...So they esteem others higher than us...
