Mike Mitchell works the sidelines

I rewatched parts of the San Fran game last night...

IMO Mitchell made the biggest play of the game with the Vernon Davis tackle/fumble/knockout.

Against just about any team in the league Davis walks into the endzone untouched.  Mitchell diagnosed the play extremely quick which put him in a position to make a play on Davis, and not only did he make the tackle but he forced the fumble and hit hard enough to knock VD out of the game.

We all know the fumble was overruled, but even preventing the touchdown on that play changed the outcome of the game.

That ain't gonna be a small contract if he keeps playing like this.

Who's also on a 1yr deal in defense? Mikell, Capt,Hardy, Drayton, Dwan?

Dwan has a two year deal. Of the names you listed I believe he is the only one with another year remaining.

Tough decisions coming after this season.... But I guess it is a great problem to have ... I rather have tons of talent than no talent, then having to overpay players to come here from other teams.

He's gone from guy I was worried about getting playing time to guy who's jersey I might get next.

Agreed. I said in another thread his closing speed and hitting power is exceptional and amazing. Why he sat the bench on Oakland's disaster of a team is baffling. Thank you Raiders.

I didn't like Mitchell when we signed him and my distaste grew in the pre season.

I was wrong, very, very wrong.

This dude is a stud and has played a big part in creating an identity for the defense and team as a whole.

What a great offseason pickup.

What a super player and team leader Mike Mitchell has turned out to be for the Panthers, For the life of me I can't see how the Raiders let this fine football player escape. Decisions like this is an example why they are an annual  NFL loser type team. Let's hear it for "River Boat Ron" and the "Pack". Wooooooo!!!!

To add to all that's been said, when I met Mitchell at Panther Talk this past Monday I was shocked by his size - he was smaller than I expected given how physical he plays. In my mind, that makes his feats all the more impressive, guy hits like he weighs 250 lbs.

The other thing I'll say is that Mitchell seemed VERY comfortable interacting with the fans and seems like a very good communicator, so it doesn't surprise me that he's taken a leadership role on the defense.
