Beason Stills Seems Miffed

Each party has reasons to spin the story in their direction and we'll probably never know how things really went down... but I tend to believe Beason.

The Panthers never said he asked to be traded, they simply said he was disappointed when he was informed that Blackburn would be starting. As a beloved leader in the locker room, I'm sure the FO was concerned that his disappointment and any perceived injustice towards him could have a toxic effect on morale so they decided to shop him around and ended up basically giving him away to the Giants.

I can understand how he feels about not being given a chance to say goodbye to his teammates but I can also understand why the Panthers decided it was best to just cut the cord given the situation... there's no easy way to say goodbye under these circumstances so sometimes it's just best to not say goodbye at all.

I do think the Panthers intended to do him a solid by trading him to a fundamentally good organization with a big need at MLB in return for a huge cap penalty and very low compensation.

I'm glad Beason has found himself in a situation where he can be a major contributor AND I'm glad the Panthers organization has the guts to trade a guy like Beason away when it's time to move on. I think it's important to be loyal to players, especially guys like Beason, but there's a limit to that and Hurney often exceeded that limit (and then some).

I see this as a win-win and I really hope Beason doesn't have any hard feelings.

I watched it and to me he just seems nostalgic for the days when he was MLB for the Panthers.  He loves the city and the team.  He loved being a Panther.  He also loves playing football and sadly things happened that made it impossible to be both.

He got injuryed.  We happened to draft the best MLB in the NFL.  Jon had a huge contract.  That's reality.

Sometimes it's hard to move on even when it's the best option for your future.  Like the song says, It's hard to say good-bye to yesterday.

He's said good things about the Giants because that's what he wants to feel even though it's not true.

As many have said, he needs to move on and accept reality...maybe he is the 7 stages of loss, who knows.

Not many franchises are stupid enough to pay broken down players that kind of guaranteed money.

He was horrible at WLB.  Luke is a better MLB than he ever was.  He wasn't going to play anymore.

Carolina gave him wanted he wanted AND he got paid for not playing more than most players make while playing.

Time to move on Jon.

I can't believe some of you.  He was one of the few bright spots in 5 years of sh1t.  I have nothing but love for him and wish him all the best.

As much as I wish this to be true, he wasn't even on the field for half of those 5 years!

I seriously thought that Beason was about to cry. He sounds as if his wife suddenly left him or something. Good god he loved playing here.

I really really wish we could have kept him, but he was simply dead weight. The NFL is a business, and stuff like this just happens.

I will say though...he does come off as whining a bit when he speaks of how they gave TD a chance.
