Beason Stills Seems Miffed

Asking to be traded, finishing his career as a Giant show how sad Beason is.

Beason is proud and by asking to be traded he was imho more expecting an answer like " No jon we need you bad"

Accepting his request was certainly heart breaking for Jon, he was not needed anymore.

And  "i want to finish my career as a giant" is  message for the Panthers, i am not sad and not disapointed... *lies*  *lies* he is ultimately sad and disapointed.

I really don't know how to take this because of all the things that where said after he left and the comment on how he would like to finish his career as a giant. I think he see's how this team has finally turned a corner and knows he could have been apart of it and truthfully I wish he could have but there was no way we were going to take Luke from the middle and there was now way we were going to pay him MLB money to play WLB.

Especially because he's an average-at-best OLB.  Looks like still a good to very good MLB.

Well, he prob said something about seeing the field more. (with the Panthers) Ron and DG, knowing he wanted to play but also knowing it wouldn't happen in Carolina, decided trading him would be best. He might not have straight up asked for a trade. I mean if he did, why lie. He was completely in the right to ask for one. Any TRUE fan knew that. He wasn't gonna play here, and he wanted to see the field. Why lie???

I've spoken to Jon since and he isn't miffed and doesn't have any ill will towards anyone here. In fact I expect once he retires he will have a presence here in Charlotte.

I certainly hope that's true.

We made him the highest paid ILB ever at one point.

I normally don't hold onto players legacies much once they leave, but I liked Jon, if he keeps this up, he will be written off just like Peppers.

Answer me this Jon Beason...would you rather sit on the bench for the Panthers?  Or start for the Giants?  You're a football player and of course you want to play.  So is this really an issue?  Seems to me Gettleman did you a solid.

And there were a lot worse places Jon could have wound up than fuggin NY.

I'm hoping it's just typical overwrought video editing. . .but he seems unhappy in the segment. Hopefully I'm misinterpreting.

For SURE.  Hell the Giants could still make a run at their awful division.  I'll bet on the team with two Superbowl rings in their pocket over any other team in the NFC East.  Wouldn't surprise me ONE BIT to see the Giants in the playoffs.

It's only natural to feel disappointed when you've gone thru the hard times and are not there when things turn around. The fact is that Gman did him a favor by trading him to the Gmen where he could play his natural position. This will make him millions in his next contract, playing well in NY rather than sitting in NC. (JR may even feel that he deserves a ring since he was on the team earlier in the year ;)).

    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
    • I didn't say I would have done it. I was just saying that I can see why some in the FO considered it. Everything was done to give Bryce weapons. Solidify the interior line thru FA. Get XL at WR in round 1 and then get the most talented RB in round 2. Take a TE in round 4, etc They were probably "assuming" he'd make a complete recovery during the 2024 season. I'm a skeptical person. I wouldn't have assumed he'd be ok in 2024. I personally would have taken another position in the 2nd for that very reason. But, if I were "influenced" to take him I would've argued to keep him off the field, especially seeing how things were going for us record wise. Conventional Wisdom says most backs don't get back to normal until two years after the ACL surgery. He was injured in Fall 2023. Having him suit up in 2025 would have been almost 2 years since the original injury. You have him for 3 year on low contract. If he balls out, you resign him for a couple of more years b/c he'd only have 3 years of tread on the tires. If he's ok but not great you let him walk.
