I have come to the Conclusion that I need to start seriously looking at going near if not full vegetarian if I want to accomplish personal Fitness Goals in my life in not only the Short but also the long term, so let me ask you this? anyone here ever made the switch before, if so what are some helpful tips in making it? and good sources for information as to the diet change.

My main concern is energy, I work a Job now where personal fitness is not only suggested but for my own safety should be required, and I do not need any fatigue issues when doing this, am planning for now to cut all carbs and sodas at least till I get closer to my initial fitness goal and then allow some things back, but just in general it's a change I need to make.

I am planning on Starting this on Monday, and this weekend am going to kinda have my last blast before I do the switch lol.

What's your reason for going vegetarian? I mean, you said you'd like to achieve certain fitness goals, but what is it about meat that keeps you from achieving them?

Also, I don't think you'll radically change your diet and NOT experience some energy fluctuations, especially at first. I've recently lost ~45lbs by switching to a ketogenic diet and there were about 3 days that I went through what's called the "keto flu," well, because it feels like you have the flu.

I've dieted to lose weight before I used to weigh 275 and went all the way down to 172, but intentionally got back up to 180(thought I was too light at 172, started to not look healthy) right now I'm at 205 and am just tired of personal weight issues and fluctuations and just want to put a permanent end to it.

I have thought about this for a while, when I lost weight dieting the first time It was nearly vegetarian except for eggs and chicken 2-3 times a week but IMO with all the hormones and steroids that are put into animals used for slaughter theses days the true health quality of what you eat is very questionable.

I agree with that completely, not to mention the factory farming techniques used in a lot of "modern" farms for the largest producers. Buying grass-fed, local beef (we have an AWESOME Amish Market where I am) has helped me stay away from all that, but it can also be very expensive.

And I, too, have struggled with weight issues for most of my life, even when I was a college athlete. I finally got to the point, like you, where I wanted to put a permanent end to it. And that's really the reason I was asking your motivations. Having lost weight (sometimes in a healthy way, sometimes not) only to put it back on, this time I realized that it wasn't about a "diet." There's no short term fix to this long term problem.

I know the veg lifestyle isn't for me. I love bacon way too damn much (and thank GOD bacon is like the perfect Keto food). But if you've made up your mind, and it seems like you have with some personal convictions to boot, I wish you the best of luck, brotha!

Also, I don't know if you're familiar with Reddit, but r/Keto and r/Ketorecipes have been a HUGE help along my journey. I just checked and there's (not surprisingly) an r/vegetarian at http://www.reddit.com/r/vegetarian and a veg recipes subreddit at http://www.reddit.com/r/vegetarianrecipes . I've generally found the people there to be incredibly supportive and knowledgeable.

I'll go weeks without meat. But I do eat it occasionally. Typically food is much more interesting without meat imo. I also found that I LOVE beans.

After not having ground beef for 6 months or more, I can't stand ground beef. It's so disgusting to me now, the texture and the taste is awful. No more hamburgers for me.

Why not go full vegan?

I'm not vegan and eat pretty unhealthily, but would love to work towards going full vegan one day. I've got a few vegan friends who've been that way for over a decade or more and they are just fine.

Some people use supplements, etc. and most all work out at least a few times a week. They don't have any energy/health issues that I know of, really.

It's more ethical and probably healthier too. I'm not shaking my finger at you or anything and good on you for wanting to better yourself. I was just genuinely curious as to why not go full vegan.

my wife went vegetarian but let me warn you:  the temptation begins to become loading up on carbs and cheese.

My wife did this for a while and kept gaining weight.  I lovingly called her a "pizzatarian" for continually eating cheese pizza.

Nuts, lentils, quinoa, beans, chickpeas will all be your friend in helping you feel full and getting your protein without eating meat or gorging yourself on carbs and cheese.

    • Compared to last year I see a shred of light at the end of the tunnel. Last year the team was bad and getting worse. Bryce was a bust. The o and d were terrible. We traded the #1 pick to the bears for said bust. Now Bryce is Hopefully turning the corner.  We might have 3 rookie contributors on offense.  No future has been mortgaged and we have our 1st pick plus the 2nd Morgan stole from the rams.   But the d still sucks
