Cam Newton on 3rd Down in 2nd Half

Gucci Mane

Cam played very well after the first quarter jitters. When looking at cam's play people should look at the drops and the amount of pressure the o-line gave up. I saw him get hit multiple times on his arm including the single int in the game. He recovered and didn't allow a single turnover for the rest of the game.

A lot of the reason i think he misfires down field is he kind of stutters like a real quick pump fake, and then he leans back before spinning it down field which pushes his shoulders up causing the ball to sail. Hes leaning back because he should have already thrown the ball but since he does the stutter, the pocket collapses more.

This is a false thread because it's not telling the full story. Just making it about Cam throws and not the full picture, defenders, and receivers gives off the impression that Cam did have a bad showing. I noticed that the O-line broke down around Cam quite a bit before he even had a chance to set his feet, which then forces him to either run or make bad throws. Something many of you simply refuse to acknowledge.  I also noticed his ONLY bad play was more caused by the defender jumping in his face, which him actually making a bad throw and he had one ball the sailed.

But once again, Cam's game was under the fugging microscope by those who still seem to hate him for taking Luck's Heisman from him.  I am stunned at how long the bitter jealously towards this kid has carried on. All he did was prove that he can win. And so those in the media, and some on here seem to now believe that since he can win without them controling it, they need to hold him to a much much higher, unrealistic, mistake free, standard that none of the other QBs are held too. Not even their choosen QB, LUCK..

In the meantime, Luck had a bad 3 and 1/2 qrter game against the Texans but managed to pull out a win and he's already fitted for his HOF jacket. He sucked last Sunday and no one is singling out his game and analyzing his mistakes. Colin played worst than Cam, his interception was more on him sailing that ball, not a denfender  in his face, like Cam and yet those in the media is playing down his game mechanics. AMAZING

I like Hardbaugh's response when asked who on the team would be blamed for the game....He said: "it's not about singling out a player and putting more pressure on him when the fault lies with the ENTIRE TEAM. Some of you need to learn how to do that.

That would-be pick that went through Bowman's hands seemed to wake Cam up and he played okay the rest of the game. No worries.

He gets nervous like crazy at the start of big games, expect him to struggle in the 1st quarter against New England as well. His first big nationally televised game and against the Patriots and Belichick? Oh yeah, he's going to look bad early on.

This is spot on.  Shula should always start Cam with short passes and a few read options so he can take a lick and shake off the nerves.  Not saying he isn't prone to mistakes during the game but Cam is like a 57 Chevy, once you get that bad boy going, she gonna run ok for a while.

When Peyton Manning does the stutter step its called "He's just crushing pebbles" . . gettin his timing right so to speak. When Cam does it, its because his mechanics are an issue.

Btw deep balls are a lot easier to come by when your 1 isnt 34 and your best downfield target keeps dropping them. As you can see Ginn rarely will catch things over his head if there's mustard on it and Smitty while being the best at finding that deep ball and tracking it to be in the right spot. . is no longer as explosive as he used to be.

    • Cam is the GOAT dual threat, but we've never been able to have back to back seasons with winning records despite the late season surge winning streaks, my favorite being the year we won the south in the 2nd half of the season. But winning 2 games late in the year against bad teams doesn't establish a "winning culture"  If they beat the Falcons bucs once, competitive against the chiefs and eagles i will have no problem with wins then because it's against legitimate competition but beating the giants and saints just to feel good, hard pass.
