First Take 11/11/13 Carolina vs San Fran

They talk for 4 minutes about it. Stephen loves us and Skip loves our D but isn't completely sold.

Stephen says "elite" and "legit" at least 4 times each.

"The Carolina Panthers....are coming." - Stephen A Smith

Skip said 49ers would have won with Vernon.

Here's the video. Ends around 1:00.00 starts around 56:00.

Good stuff Dex,

It kills me how Skip and other media outlets make excuses and say San. Fran would have won if ......

San Fran would have won if this person would have been playing......

Injuries are part of the game we have lost our first and second team guards yet we don't make excuses about starting a defensive tackle at guard.

Bayless is clueless.  ""somehow he comes from his linebacker position and breaks this up"  Watch the damn film.  That is because he had him right away.  And NO Davis doesn't come down with that ball because Kuechly breaks it up the same way.

I hate when they say what ifs because someone got hurt.   Well if they had a real ref that wasn't in the back pocket of the Niners  Davis fumbles the football and Carolina recovers.

No offense to the OP, but stories that include the phrase "Skip Bayless said" just don't register well with me.

Well from now on I'll run all my Panther related threads by you before I post. Sorry for the trouble I caused.

It's not their job to watch film. This leads to shoddy journalism and over generalizations more often than not. The sports casting world will know a lot more on November 19th if we are able to pull it out just because everyone will have access to the game. That said, he is right about Kuechly.

I have a feeling that was a blown coverage and Kuechly recognized the call as soon as he saw the tight end split the seam. Something went wrong in the pre snap call and there wasn't going to be a safety there which Kuechly recognized almost immediately.

That's not based on anything other than how the play unfolded and how unscripted it seemed to be that Kuechly was 30 yards down field with no safety within 5 yards.

Don't bash me for this interpretation because that's all it is, an interpretation, I could be wrong.

    • After the Chiefs game a 6'5 X would really help in the Red zone. I would also love to add Slayton in FA
    • But again, you can restock a defense through free agency much easier than offensive skill positions. Spend all our cap space on defense, take a true elite prospect who also happens to fit a position of need in T-Mac, and then use the rest of our picks on defense. Again, every season there’s a smattering of great DL, LB, and DB options in free agency, a Top 10 WR never hits free agency, ever.  The only way you get one is through the draft or giving up 1st round picks in a trade for one. If he’s there when we’re on the clock, he has to be the pick, he’s just that good.
    • It must be an early Christmas for JT O'Sullivan having Thielen back so he could put a coal in Thielen's stocking every chance he gets.  Honestly, the biggest surprise is not so much the anticipation. There were those moments here and there last year as well. It's that even that one positive quality he had seemingly vanished his first two games to where it looked like it was all but over, only for it to start coming back some until you get exclamation points all over this game film. And some of those throws were under a lot of duress, something I feel is something new. Finally, those deeper shots are starting to land. Not all of them, but enough that defenses may have to start respecting them. No guarantees whether this will end up as more of anomaly but I certainly hope it isn't. The Green Bay game was a sampler of what BY could be. Against KC, we got a meal. If we could start getting these meals regularly, we might actually have something to work with here.
