Thank you Marty Hurney!

I think the recent panthers success shows just how bad a team manager Hurney was. Gettleman came in, worked his butt off cutting, rehashing and rebuilding, and we're suddenly a contender 6 months later. Hurney doesn't deserve credit for this, it's solid evidence than he didn't know poo about how to manage the team.

You can't really credit a GM for building part of a team.

The GM and coach build a complete squad, and that's what wins or loses games, not the individual parts.

Even Matt Millen managed to pick up good players sometimes, but the overall rosters he built just weren't good enough.

"well yeah nakamura blows and gives up 10 TDs every week, but he's only starting cause Godfrey got injured! It's not Hurneys fault that a guy got injured! GMs can keep players from being hurt, you guys r so stooopid! Hurney is a great GM we'd be in the playoffs if not for these dam injuries!"

this would be the huddle right now if Hurney was here

Saying Hurney built this team is like saying Millen built the 2011 lions. Yes there are elements of truth to it, however he had made way too many mistakes and we are better off moving forward with our new, experienced general manager.

I also feel like Gettleman complements Ron's style better than Hurney did.

Thank you Marty Hurney for bringing us cornerstones of this Super Bowl caliber team:

Cam

Kuechly

Greg Hardy

Charles Johnson

Ryan Kalil

Greg Olsen

TD

DeAngelo

Stewart

Tolbert

All of these beasts wouldn't be here if not for Marty Hurney, thank you Marty! I hope you get a Super Bowl ring with everyone else come February!

Hurney wasn't good at the details. It was the little things and his ridiculous contracts that did him in.

How long has he been trying to get a return man and a 2nd/3rd WR in here? Gettleman is here a few months and gets one of the best returners in the league, who happens to fill in as a respectable 2nd/3rd WR.

How long has Hurney been trying to replace Kasey, even when he was here and couldn't put the ball in the endzone in KOs anymore? Gettleman solved that problem fairly quickly too with one guy.

How long has Hurney been trying to get Kris Jenkins' replacement in here? Gettleman completely killed that need in one draft with not only one but two monsters in the middle.

How long has Hurney been trying to get just one NFL caliber safety on the team? Mitchell, Mikell and Lester are playing better than anyone we've had here in some time. No draft picks used and minimal cap hits. And we may even have a pro bowler in the group.

What about oline depth? Quality competition and veteran leadership in the secondary in general (S and CB)? DL depth to establish a rotation where the drop off isn't catastophic?

Gettleman has done a much, much better job than Hurney. Because he's a football guy that understands the little things it takes to win in the NFL.

Imagine where we would be talent wise he he had not wiffed on managing the low to mid rounds draft picks for multiple years on end. That is why he is gone.

Not to mention the ridiculously overdone contracts spent on some players.

If you wanna say thank you to somebody for good draft picks, say it to Don Gregory.
