The story from yesterday...

the pats...at home....on MNF is the the next major measuring stick, tho. the next major one after that one is beating the saints in new orleans a few weeks later.

then it's getting a playoff win.

screw  the media says, tho. i don't care about them. those are the measuring sticks i'm using. and yes...i'm gonna keep moving those goalposts back and i expect the team to do that as well.

getting over .500 isn't enough.

proving that they could win a close game, proving that they could beat a top team, proving that they could come back from behind and win...none of it is enough.

beating the pats at BOA on prime time won't be enough.

nothing will be enough short of winning it all.

everything so far has been neccessary steps to get where we want to be and it's really cool that we are taking them, but they are all just steps on the way to the top. we have a whole lot more to prove.

Not that I am worried about the Pats but I saw the 49ers as a far better team talent wise. The Pats have Brady but that's it and we ripped one of the best olines in football apart, just imagine what a imoble Brady will have to deal with.

They have the best TE of all time. Pats offense couldn't do poo with him out, then they dropped 55 on the Steelers

I'm honestly not so much worried about the Pats, even though they're still an excellent team, so much as I'm worried about it being MNF. We seem to poo the bed every time we're in the national spotlight like that. If we come out and play, then we'll be fine. If we come out like a bunch of kids on their first TV program, then I'll be pissed.

Up to the Riverboat gang to keep these guys grounded. It's just another game, no different than any other on the schedule.

...at least in some circles, will be that the 49ers either aren't as good as had been thought or just laid an egg yesterday.

If you hear or read that, don't bother getting too pissed off.  I understand the feeling, but it's kind of pointless.

The Patriots game now becomes the next "measuring stick", and I'll be anxious to see how we do there.  Of course, there are also the two games yet to come against the Saints.

Celebrate yesterday to the fullest, but there's plenty of season yet to go.

That asshole Deon Sanders said that the 49ers were actually the better team, and he wouldn't put that much stock into our beating them.

He's probably still pissed off that we broke his face in 1996.

At this point we are 6-3 and guaranteed no better than 6-10 unless we keep winning. In order to stay in the divisional hunt we need to keep winning. NE is the next one up. We need to do what good teams do. Win at home and steal a few on the road. So far we have gone 3-2 on the road and 3-1 at home. If we can keep winning at home and steal another one or two on the road we will be fine. Can't be content yet. We are just coming into our own.

This definitely. All that needs to be said.

I had us at 1-1 out of our next two.  I thought for sure we would lose to the niners but beat the pats.  The fact that we sit here a week from next Monday's game having beat the niners is absolutely huge.  The win against the niners does so much for this team (including giving us an all important conference win).  A conference win that not only gives us the tie breaker against the Niners, but also gives us a 5-2 conference record.  If you want to know why that conference record is important, go take a look at the conf. records of the teams chasing us in the wild card race.  We are 5-2 in the conf, which (behind the saints, detroit, seattle, and dallas) is tops in the NFC.

I know we are all in division mode, and I do believe we will challenge for the crown, but the main goal in all of this is to get into the tournament.  If we get in, absolutely nobody wants to see Rivera and company bringing that defense and run game into their stadium.
