Shula still did a mistake by passing when the team was in FG range 7 - 9

Well Gano scored a nice long range FG but this play was imho a mistake.

Otherwise i have no problem with Shula.

Shula had a stretch of 3 games where he was absolutely outstanding. The games before and after that he has at least partially sucked.

 

He seems to have near completely ditched the short, quick passing game that had us putting up 30+ every game, and went back to slow developing routes that get Cam sacked. His constant passing on 3rd and short is completely inappropriate and has a near 0% success rate.

True. I noticed that to. 

 

He just needs to mix it/them up.

Did we really need 6 pages of discussion on Shula? Are there that many people who don't watch our games? too many times we have no oline play to help cam and all the horrible drops the last few games are quite obvious. In reality, were working against Shula.

I'm going to be explicitly clear on this point: most of you don't know what the hell you're talking about and have no business making judgment calls about the playcalling. You act like you can magically manufacture receiver separation, good pass protection, wide open running lanes, accurate throws and completed catches instead of wide open drops against one of the league's top defenses. Was it a perfect game? Hell no. But it got the job done and would have been much more successful with better execution.

 

We've scored around 30 points in 4 out of the last 5 games.  We didn't against SF because of a lack of execution and the fact that the 49's have a fantastic defense.

 

Zod should put in an age requirment to post here.

Some of you think ur more important than u actually are. That's what makes this place miserable at times and why so many just lurk. There are no rankings on here bro and believe me when I say ur not that important Chuck. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I guess if trying to belittle other Panther fans to try to compensate for ur small ego is what fuels ur fire. Then whatever. The major reason we went 2-8 under Chud for two seasons in a row is because we didn't have this defense.

 

You are telling me that if this years team had last years defense that we would be 6-3?

 

 

Last years defense wasn't that bad, they were they ranked 10th in yards per game allowed. You can't put all those loses on them. The offense was culpable too, I mean, we had like 10 rushing yards against Tampa to kick the season off. We had some serious offensive issues last year, do you remember all the read option Chud bashing, the RB issues with Delo getting benched 1 game, the Kalil RB jersey post on twitter. Both years you saw philosophical changes midway thru the season with a larger focus on running the ball and controlling the clock. You also saw a change in results.

 

Just look at what Chud is doing offensively in Cleveland, he has a pass to run ratio of almost 2:1. They have 1 rushing TD so far, 28th in attempts and 32nd in scoring. They are woefully unbalanced and  while passing excites fans they are sitting with a losing record with a pretty stout D behind them. Their division isn't particularly tough this year either.

 

What I am saying is if Chud was more balanced they would likely be sitting with a winning record today and if he was still here we might not be sitting at 6-3 today.

 

Of Course our D this year is having a massive impact but  do you realize we are scoring more points per game this year under Shula than last year under Chud?

 

Having balance and controlling TOP are massive in this league. We lead the league in TOP, Cleve is ranked 26th. Last year under Chud we were ranked 19th. And that means our D is on the field less than any other team in the league.

That's the point. There are ways to scheme for that offensively, and Shula did for a few games, but didn't against ATL and SF.

We need to run the qb power to the left more
