All of you Shula haters

Aldon Smith had one hurry all night. He never got a hit in.

I was jesting but yea he wasn't playing much...only recorded 2 snaps in the first half.

The 49ers defense is injured but even then they are overrated IMO so....that's the main issue I have with only scoring 10 points.

Need to still be able to impose our will on the defense, even if they are good.

The problem begins with our guys dropping passes. There is no mystery in that we aren't strong on the OL and Shula has done a great job masking that. Without a few execution mistakes by our players that game could have easily been 20 or 17 to 6.

Interestingly the Patriots have struggled much more than us on dropped passes.

The dropped passes are indeed infuriating/unexpected(at least from Smitty) but a hauled in reception for a first down does not automatically equate to points...

The crazy punt play, missed FG, and the Vernon Davis fumble were the only plays that actually affected the scoreboard against us.

Shula has not done a great job masking our OL...he still calls way too many long developing plays that get Cam beat down. He also throws shitty screens on 1st down instead of well timed ones when the defense is blitzing.

What examples do you have to show that Shula is masking our OL?

To this point Chud did a much better job of utilizing Cam than Shula has.  The defense is the biggest difference....you put this defense on our teams from 2011/2012 and those seasons are much different.

Oh yea I forgot Shula can only call good games against crap defenses....that is what you are saying isn't it?

Seattle and Indy beat down the 9ers defense....but we can't?

Shula is not as bad as I thought he would be but he isn't exactly the man either.....21st(15th in PPG) rank offense....yea...Chud never did that good here with Cam.

Nope, thats not what I am saying and you know it

I found their defense completely underwhelming compared to the hype. They did nothing to stop us, our drives stalled on stupid 3rd and short passes. Cam had an inaccurate day and Shula did nothing to compensate for it.

Cam had a very shakey start.  No doubt about it.  But once he got going, he greatly improved.   He began throwing with authority into tight spaces.  The issue then became dropped passes that ended drives.

Well then you must hate 95% of all OC as I am pretty confident there won't be many 13-3 teams this year.

Your standards are a bit unrealistic don't you think.

I think you're missing my point. I'm not saying a team has to be 13-3 to give respect to their OC.

I still believe Shula's offense will cost us games this year. If it doesn't, then I am wrong.

I think Shula struggles against the 3-4. I don't think he knows how to counter blitzing linebackers.

However, I think he knows how to destroy most zone coverages and knows how to get favorable match-ups in short passing situations. I just don't feel he's a complete OC.

Then I misunderstood you.

As far as Shula costing a game - it's possible but then most OC's will cost a team at some time and as far as not knowing how to counter 3-4 defenses, it may be as much Cam as his play calling. Not saying it is but Cam doesn't face them very often so it must be harder for him to read them.

I have to admit, I wasn't exactly thrilled when I heard he had been promoted but I have been pleasantly surprised. I guess we'll find out what he's made of real quick with the Patriot's, Jet's and Saints games coming up.

Nothing personal but I hope you are wrong.

Shula has been a little better but I'm not close to being sold yet...I'm sorry when your QB is 6'5 245 and and athletic there's no reason we shouldn't run on every 3rd and less than 4 yards, and Tolbert is almost automatic anyway.....also get rid of the dumbass double fake screen it's retarded, takes an hour to develop and always gets blown up....he's shown upside though I will say, I don't completely hate him and if we continue on this winning path I will eat crow gladly....I'll give credit where it's due...and it also needs to be said that he's getting the job done with a rag tag group of oline, with the exception of the plays that take an hour to develop, I feel he us calling the game to the best of his ability with what he's been given, but more will be needed for me to want to retain him

That DeAngelo TD run was a thing of beauty; a fake option roll out with Cam and LaFell going one way while he slips the ball to DeAngelo who then goes the other way? The 49ers defense was legitimately faked out of their boots, and even though DWill had to shake a few tackles to score that play sprung him.

We were also producing yardage today, just had a lack of player execution with drops and untimely sacks. Clean up a few mistakes and we could have hung 20 on them.

That 3rd and long shovel pass was also a thing of beauty. Great play call

A little something to stick in your tinfoil hats for future reference...

If the Dolphins decide Joe Philbin is the guy who needs to fall on his sword for the Richie Incognito fiasco, then they'll be looking for a new head coach.

Team PR department might believe a good way to get fans back on board would be to go with a name they know and love.

Like say...Shula.

Mind you, while I'm a Shula fan, I don't believe he's actually ready to be an NFL head coach. But stranger things have happened.

Just something to ponder

So who's going to be the OC? Not good we go through 3 OC's in 4 years

I wouldn't bet on it actually happening. GM Jeff Ireland makes a better fall guy.

That said, it's conceivable.

As to who'd replace him, my first choice would be Jim Skipper, but I'm sure many would nominate Ricky Proehl.
