Clausen showing class

As much as people hate on the kid's skill level, he seems like a really good guy.

This is a kid who since high school has been heralded as the second coming, and touted as one of the future break out players.  He was the #1 QB coming out of HS, had a decent career at ND and was a relatively high draft pick, before being crushed on season and never seeing the field since.

Many players with much less achievement have put on huge media displays and poor attitudes in similar situations, but Jimmy has always handled everything with class.  I give the guy so much credit, because he probably spent the first 22 years of his life hearing how great he is by coaches, scouts, his parents, boosters etc, not many could handle failure after being built up that much.

I really hope Jimmy gets a chance and does well some place.  He was placed in an awful situation that year and didn't do himself any favors, but he took his replacement from Cam seemingly quite well, and he's been a consummate supporter of the team the entire time.  If nothing else, his abysmal play gave us Cam Newton, and that's something to be thankful for...

I hope he finds a home someplace with a system that fits him better...

I cannot think of one QB in the history of the game who would have succeeded here when he was asked to play.  That is why I do not beat him up about sucking.  He is a career backup at best, but in the right system with the right coach, things could have been different.  Bashing Clausen after 3 years is not cool.  Time to move on and act like you know football.
