All Hail, David Gettlemen.

They could not run because of his ass-kicking draft (Star, Short, Klein).  They could not throw because of his ass-kicking free agents, signed with no cap room (Mykel, Mitchell, Florence, Munnerlyn, Lester, White, Cole, D. Edwards).

The way Kuechly was communicating with Klein today was phenomenal.  We could be looking at more 4-3 sets with Klein-Kuechly-Davis this season even with Blackburn back.  Klein played good, was receptive, and improved as the game progressed.

I've liked what I've seen so far and trust in Rivera.  Melvin White, Lester, and Klein are strong rookie components Gettleman and Rivera have found, not just Star and KK

    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
    • This was evident first two weeks of season. I don’t see any issues with physical tools since he came back. I think he is a player that must play with confidence to overcome those size limitations and he’s doing that.
    • Still 3-10 on passes over 15 yards.  At least he's not scared to merely attempt them anymore.  Where I see improvement is the 10-15 yard range.  He was 6-6.  Bryce of old was scatter shot on anything beyond 10 yards and the further out, the worse the accuracy.
