In reality there are about 50 countries in the world that are actually freer than the United States, and they didn't do it by propagating the idea that dying/fighting for banks made you a hero. Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, Sailors and veterans like you and me are/were only spokes in the wheel.

individual soldiers have no true agency. a criticism of governments utilizing them is fair, but given the power dynamic and the role of nationalism/propoganda in determining how we view these things i don't think it's fair to run around clubbing soldiers over the head
