The 5 most disappointing losses in Panthers history

My wife was right there screaming and cussing with me.

She gets into it too usually. But my reaction was a bit more than cussing. It was more of a full out temper tantrum that ended with some broken furniture.

It was admittedly rediculous. I had some things going on at the time (my dad was dying) that all was built up into this release. But it was still immature.

It was one of those things where you ask yourself "Why am I this emotionally invested in what is just a game". Can't help it though, I love my Panthers!

Sad thing is, I used to be worse.

in seriousness, i think the loss against the falcons last year has to be in the conversation, or at least an honorable mention. the fury i felt the rest of the week after that loss was a sort of smoldering rage i hadn't experienced in a long, long time. it was palpable, something that transcended actions on a tv screen that didn't affect my daily life. and i look at that as the moment that the 2012 season was lost, a season that half this board (and our pro-bowl center) insisted was going to see us cruise to the playoffs.

Indeed. What made that game so hard was when we lost the camera zoomed on Charles Johnson on the sideline and his back was to the camera with his head down and he was stomping his foot repeatedly and looked so heartbbroken, that image is imprinted on my psyche and will probably never leave.

Not many people might remeber but if it was at the very end of the game as soon as they made the FG, it was so heartbreaking seeing CJ like that and I remember thinking I wish I recorded it so if I ever heard anyone say NFL players only care about the money, I would show them that clip. He literally looked as though he got a phone call informing him someone close to him just died. It was heartbreaking and I never fully recovered.

The Redskins loss back in the 90s. We had a three touchdown lead in the first half and still lost.

2001 Ricky Williams runs into the endzone as time expires.

I can't remember the year, it was probably late 90s. But this guy for the other team is running with the go ahead touchdown, we pop the ball loose. Our guy recovers it but his momentum slides him out of the endzone. It's ruled a Safety and we lose the game....I think by 1 point.

God that Arizona game was such a demoralizing failure. Delhomme was historically terrible in that game. Fox inexplicably didn't give a poo who was covering Fitzgerald for some reason, and he had like over 150 receiving yards well into the second quarter. By halftime, the game was pretty much over. It was the moment I knew that everything was going to have to be torn down and rebuilt from the foundation on up to get back to relevancy.

Beat the Saints and make the Playoffs.........

New Orleans 2004, we win, we make the playoffs. Aaron Brooks shreds us. John Kasay has a 60 yard field goal blocked as time expires.

Well that's 2 of us who remember the bite of that loss.

Cabinet door below the kitchen sink is still part broken where I kicked it after that game.

Fug that day. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200501020car.htm

7 point favorite, win and we're in, still furious.

alice was probably really torn between cheering for his home team that weekend and pulling for whoever would make it farthest in the playoffs

    • Hang in there, my friend.  I think Tepper has learned he needs to be hands off the football operations.  I'm anxious to see what we do the rest of the season.  Have faith.

    • i felt good for those few games that bryce didn't look like the worst in the league. all that fell apart again sunday.  i'm borderline just bailing on it all. i've been hanging on by a thin thread for several years. i mean it's not even fun to watch any football right now.
