Panthers Defense - They haven't played anybody yet?

So I got to thinking about how some people say our team isn't as good as our record because we haven't played anybody yet and how it relates to our defense. I wanted to check how our defensive performance against each of our teams stacked up against their averages for the year. Here's the results:

Seattle

We allowed their offense: 12

Average against other opponents: 27.5

Difference of: +15.5

Buffalo

We allowed their offense: 24

Average against other opponents: 20.6

Difference of: -3.4

NYG

We allowed their offense: 0

Average against other opponents: 20.1

Difference of: +20.1

Arizona

We allowed their offense: 20

Average against other opponents: 17.7

Difference of: -2.3

Minnesota

We allowed their offense: 10

Average against other opponents: 26.3

Difference of: +16.3

St. Louis

We allowed their offense: 13

Average against other opponents: 21.4

Difference of: +8.4

Tampa Bay

We allowed their offense: 13

Average against other opponents: 15.9

Difference of: +2.9

Atlanta

We allowed their offense: 10

Average against other opponents: 23.7

Difference of: +13.7

Total

We allowed all their offenses on average: 12.8

Average of all opponents against other opponents: 21.7

Difference of: +8.9

We have allowed almost 9 fewer points per game than each of our opponents scored on average against their other opponents. I think this is a good indicator of how real our defense is, irrespective of how bad the overall teams were that we played. With the exception of Buffalo and Arizona, we played better defense against each of our opponents than their other opponents, and it was often by a significant margin.

Didn't want to make a whole new thread about this.  Been watching some videos and this one just had to be mentioned.

Pretty vanilla stuff until then end when they're comparing the Saints to the Panthers and discussing the Panthers' chance of winning the NFCS.  Eric Allen ACTUALLY SAYS the two teams' defenses are about equal with a possible edge going to the Saints.  W.T.F.

PS...........they don't fair well against teams that play solid D and can run the football.

Yeah, the Jets did a pretty good job of exposing that. The Jets ran the ball 36 times last Sunday for 198 yards.

Geno had just 19 pass atempts and Cribbs 1. The Jets had a solid game plan going in and were able to execute it very well.

I agree NO and NE will test our defense a lot more than anyone we've played yet, but SF's offense wasn't exactly cupcake.  They've averaged 27.25 ppg so far and over 30 a game during the 5 games before playing us.  One of those was 32 points put up against a very good Arizona defense, the one that held us to 6 points.  I'm not saying we'll hold NE and NO to an average of 12 points or anything, but if we can hold them to ~20 I'll consider it a win on that side and it should lead to a win in the outcome of the game.

The true test is Monday then both games versus the Saints. Seattle is good but that was the first game of the season. The rest of our wins haven't really come against any juggernauts.

Outside of those games, it's the Dolphins, Jets, Bucs and Falcons.

No 'juggernauts' in that bunch either (well, maybe one if the Jets lose the week before).

Scheduling department apparently got us mixed up with the Patriots this year

Although I hate to be premature (don't we all) it at least potentially looks like we have a pretty good path to the playoffs.

What happens if we get there...
