Season of Dreams or Season of Illusions?

Mr. Scot

Anyone that thinks Nate Chandler is a viable replacement needs to go back and watch the game. He was beaten consistently. We can scheme for that but at some point the Niners will take advantage of our limitations. Hopefully Chandler got some good coaching because he did not look ready for the hand to hand combat and most importantly he didn't know where the ball was. He let so many guys run around him.

Even if we lose to San Francisco, it doesn't mean the rest of the season was a fluke. It just means we revamp and go beat New England and continue our march to the playoffs.

But, since you asked, my gut feeling is that this team is going to absolutely surprise the 49ers, force Kaepernick into turnovers, control the running game, and pull away in the end.

30-13.

You stole my score. Police, Police. All we have to do is play Panther Football, and we spank, and vanquish, another foe.

Change a Panthers to 49ers and change 5-3 to 6-2 and ask yourself that question.

YEAH.

i won't be able to tell you that until after the pats game.

if we end this two-game streak at 5-5 it looks like an illusion. we are who we thought we were.

if we end it at 6-4 we're still in the thick of it and it could well be a season of dreams.

if we end it 7-3? choo choo motherfugers, panthers train is bound for playoffville.

Cutish, truthful, clever, and well put. This post is what pie was intended for.

how is it different than the way it's been the rest of the year. we've had scrubs on the right side the while time and we've been getting the job done. chris scott isn't much better than what will be replacing him.

optimism is there because in spite of a weak right side, we've been winning and we have been one of the most efficient and effective offenses in the league and our defense is elite and our special teams are no longer a handicap and our coaching staff is making the right calls.

right side of the OL might be a weakness, but it's not enough to lose us games because all the other parts on the team are doing really well.

He's baack.

We are riding a 4 game winning streak, our second in the last year. Things seem to be going our way. I gots way too much good things to think about to worry over RG. Until it proves unsalvageable, I am good.

Now I may be wrong about this, but imo, Chandler is the most athletic guy we've thrown at that revolving door of a position to date. He's had most of TC and 1/2 a year to process. He played really well last week. Ok, that's about all the worry I got for RG right now.

I forgot to mention, the Panthers haven't even played their best game yet. Far from it actually.

This team hasn't peaked.

This weekend's game is a tighten up the chin strap, and step it up to another level, type game.

Lets see how they respond to it.

This

I believe the Panthers are better than their record.  We could have won all our losses.  Slow start comes down to coaching and not being prepared.

You started out so well too. It was more over coaching, coaching to not make a mistake. Too conservative vs. Hawks, too overboard at Bills. Dialed it in nicely against NY, and have been playing well 6 weeks.

Let's not dwell on 2 early losses, and lose sight of the goal. We are 10-5 in our last 15, we are on our second 4 game winning streak in that period, we have the best Defense in the league, and our Offense has become a methodical, aggressive, yardage and time eating, scoring machine. I can live with that.

had rivera been coaching @ buffalo the way he's coaching now, we win that game.

crap...the confidence he's been instilling in our guys and the success that has follwed by going for it on fourth down early might have been the thing that gives us the extra push we needed against seattle.

the cards game was just inexcusable from many stand points and there's no reason we should have lost. but against seattle and buffalo i think we could have won if just one or two things happen then that are happening now.

it's frustrating, but at least lessons were learned and hopefully we aren't going back.

I really think, deep down, Rivera thought he WAS being aggressive. He may be by the book, but he was still willing to try anything to make us better. I think he just did not realize the effect some of his calls, or lack of calls, had. He was learning to be a very good coach, and he thought he was aggressive.

Rivera felled his detractors, and stamped the moment, for all to see, when the Dynasty began, all with 1 4th down call.

I could definitely see us losing this game, but I also see it as the hardest game on our schedule (sans Seattle).

Win or lose, I think we've got a great shot at beating the Patriots and coming out of this 2 game stretch at 1-1 gives us a HUGE opportunity for a playoff push.  We just need to stay neck and neck with the Saints, I think we sweep them at the end of the season and take the division.

This could be a magical season, but we still have quite a few glaring holes on the roster.  Past 2 years we've played lights out in the second half of the season, I'm just hoping we got our poo together early this year and this pain train keeps rolling.  Assuming we draft well and make a few QUALITY (don't need to break the bank) moves in FA then I believe next year will be when this team truly takes off and is viewed as a contender from week 1.  We are still very young and recovering this well from a full rebuilding mode in just 3 years isn't unheard of, but you see so many times who screw it up and seem to be stuck rebuilding for close to a decade (Oak, Cle, Jax, etc).

Regardless of what this team does this year, our future is incredibly bright.  A couple pieces to the puzzle are lost under the coffee table, we just need someone to dig through the stale cheetohs and rusty pennies to find them.

We should gash San Fran between the tackles....they give up just over 4 yds per rush....keep our nice stable of backs rotating with fresh legs and keep kappernickel the elf off the field and we will be fine....keep controlling the clock...long 10-11 play drives that end in points, wear down their front seven and when that safety creeps up into the box let ginn take out his frustrations .....on d we should take a page out of the ravens playbook and have hardy, Johnson and Davis hit kap EVERY time he even hints at a read option put him on his ass...star and dwan need to have a good game to keep from getting shuffled down on those zone reads and let keek roam free.....we can't let Vernon Davis do what tony g did to us in the first half last week....there will be big plays both ways...the team that keeps an even head and responds will win....let's hope San Fran takes us lightly and we come out and smack them in the mouth....I'm going with 21-17 panthers

I have no idea who wins this game. Just too many variables. Put us on a neutral field with acceptable RG play, and I'd feel a lot more confident.

There is no doubt, however, that we are good enough to win the game.

I'd like to think so too.

So what does it say if we don't?

I think the outlook of this team win or loss is so incredibly looking on the optimistic side (glass half full).  I think we have a solid shot of taking this game but it  is totally about how hungry this team really is and can Rivera keep their focus razor sharp.  I think this will be a defensive battle in the first half and the game plan will adjust and open up in the second half.

I am optimistic but realize this game will be a difficult undertaking to go to the other side of the country, storm the hostile field, and run out with a win against a very solid, sound team.  I am in it and believe that they can do it!!

I am drinking the kool-aid and am excited!!!
