Season of Dreams or Season of Illusions?

Even if we lose to San Francisco, it doesn't mean the rest of the season was a fluke. It just means we revamp and go beat New England and continue our march to the playoffs.

But, since you asked, my gut feeling is that this team is going to absolutely surprise the 49ers, force Kaepernick into turnovers, control the running game, and pull away in the end.

30-13.

Are the Panthers really as good as their 5-3 record would indicate?

Or will this weekend's contest against the first quality team we've faced in a month or so bring us back down to earth, back to reality?

What's your gut feeling going into Sunday's game?

Change a Panthers to 49ers and change 5-3 to 6-2 and ask yourself that question.

I think the Panthers are better than their record and the record could be better.  Cam, Shula, and Rivera needed a few games to get things going on the right track.  The good news is that they all seem to be getting better.

In the past the Panthers were winning they seemed to barely beat bad teams...playing down to the level of the competition.  Not this year.

This is not the same team that started the season.

After the game the will be talking about how the 49ers lost when they faced a quality opponent.

i won't be able to tell you that until after the pats game.

if we end this two-game streak at 5-5 it looks like an illusion. we are who we thought we were.

if we end it at 6-4 we're still in the thick of it and it could well be a season of dreams.

if we end it 7-3? choo choo motherfugers, panthers train is bound for playoffville.

Are we good? Yes. Great? No, not yet. I see us as a 9-7 team that misses the playoffs this year. However, I do feel we are on the cusp and next season we will be a 11-5 or better team.

I disagree. 9-7 means we go 4-4 the rest of the way which I don't see happening (Remember, we still play the Falcons and Bucs)... I think we go 5-3 or 6-2. Will 10-6 be enough to get us into the playoffs? Idk.... 11-5? We're in. I have a feeling we'll create some havoc if we get in the playoffs, lets make it happen.

Losing at SF would be disappointing, but not the end of the world. Most of us would've been thrilled with 5-4 after the 1-3 start.

Even with a loss, 10-6 would by no means be a stretch. ATL and TB should be wins, meaning we would have to win 3/5 from New Orleans x2, Miami, NYJ, and NE. That's not far-fetched at all.
