SI article...and Smitty

Chris Wesseling of nfl.com's Around The League quoted the article as well as added a few notable quotes in this piece:

Who can blame one of the most under-appreciated players of his generation for counting himself fortunate after wasting away on aimless teams quarterbacked by Jimmy ClausenChris WeinkeDavid Carr and Brian St. Pierre over the past seven years.

Smith isn't the only one excited about Riverboat Ron's surging Panthers. A portion of the the Around The League crew has adopted Carolina as its favorite team to watch this season.

I half-jokingly suggested on Friday's Around The League Podcast that we ignore the rest of Sunday's late-afternoon games to solely concentrate on the biggest Panthers game since...January of 2009.

I'll make a little space on the bandwagon and welcome these guys.

Ring, yes. Panthers' Wall of Fame (or whatever it is), yes. HOF, yes. Doubtful about the statue.

So, in our entire existence the one player that plays for us his entire career,  the best player we've ever had and helps us win a Superbowl and gets into the hall of fame doesn't deserve a statue?

No one has commented on Smitty coaching up the other receivers...having watched every pass thrown against the 49ers this season.  That is huge I think.  I am super impressed.   He has evolved in to quite the team player.  Who would have predicted years ago that he would become the person he has.  Still has lots of spunk and fire but channels it appropriately.  Got to give JR some credit.  He saw something in Steve Smith...believed in him, mentored him (to some extent), and gave him chances many would not have.   Also got to give Smitty lots of credit in having respect and making the most of the opportunity he was given.

Great find!!! "Marginal receiver"...lol. surprised he didn't punch Hurney and/or Foxy. Made that chip a lot bigger I guess.

Anyway...very interesting read. Thanks for the link.

In the article it portrays Fox as being on Smiths side

My how Hurney changed.
