Steve is a Ring away Marv..... Gore needs way more than that.

WTF?

How do you figure THAT?

Steve Smith:

13 seasons, 11,839 yards, 66 TDs, 2 TDs rushing, 7 100 yards seasons. 23rd on Career receiving list

Frank Gore

9 NFL Seasons, 9,457 yards, 58 TDs, 10 TDs receiving, 6 1000 yard seasons (well on his way to his 7th), 31st on Career rushing list

I get that Steve has 4 more years in the league, but Frank is AVERAGING over 1000 yards a season. In fact, outside of his rookie year the only year he failed to do so was when he already had 800+ yards in week 11 and broke his hip.

Steve Smith is much more than a ring from the Hall. He has been a great player, but if Tim Brown can't make the Hall, Steve Smith ain't getting in either. I've already accepted that Frank won't make it, but lets not pretend like there is some HUGE divide between them.

most of us are pretty sure that steve would need another 3 years in the league catching close to 1000 yards a season with a couple deep playoff runs in there to boost his stats (and at least one superbowl ring) in order to make it. you won't find too many who have the illusion that he's a shoe-in or something.

I would go along with that. If he can put together a few more 1000 yard seasons with some playoff runs, he has a chance.
