Refreshing to See: Expert Picks [ESPN]

trying to figure out why no one picking us is refreshing.

i personally hate that this team flies so far under the radar. i hate that this team has crapped the bed so much for so long that so many have very little faith that this team can be great and beat the best teams. i hate that we earned that.

i can't wait for us to win these next two games and the panthers have their coming out party that puts them smack dap on top of that radar. the panthers need to do something that puts the league on notice and puts the spotlight directly on them.

so you don't want that? only way this team is going to stay under the radar is to disappoint again and go back to their losing ways.

if we keep winning, people are going to expect that to continue...and that's a good thing.

It was kind of sarcasm.. I mean I can't remember the last time we were picked across the board hence the use of the word "refreshing".

I would like to be regarded highly around the league and with the media. I think we will win and that will begin to happen.

Jaws was originally Panthers (as of yesterday) - guess he flip flopped.

I think Gregg Easterbrook tracks the "experts" picks each year and you'll find it amazing how often they change their picks for everything....playoffs, Superbowl, the Draft. I wouldn't be surprised if in a TV spot they pick the 49ers, radio interview give the edge to the Panthers, and on the Inter-webs, back to the 49ers.

Some of these guys picked the Texans and Falcons as not only playoff, but Superbowl teams. hahahahahhaha.....

So how do you feel about the o-line we have going on Sunday versus that 9ers D? That is my main concern and why I feel we will probably lose. Have they said if Piggy or Chandler will be starting at RG?

Rivera said Nate is the starter but they were going to "RG by committee" like the LG with Wharton.

Everything starts and ends in the trenches in this game. If they can't hang on either side of the ball (OL & DL) in the first quarter I wouldn't expect improvement there as the game goes along. For me that's just the first stepping stone.. but if the lines at least give Cam some time, I'll feel much better. Same goes for us vs the run.

The foot injuries to Blackburn and Olsen also worry me.

i think it will be rough there on the right side, but when hasn't it been this year? who we have starting won't be all that much of a  drop off from what we've had at RG. we can compensate, just like we've been doing. i don't think the issues on the right side will be the deciding factor in this game.

of course if fua sees the field i take all of that back.

seriously, tho....we're just as likely to come out with a win as they are. played on nuetral ground, i think it's likely we win. home field advantage is the only real one i see in this game for the 49ers.

i do think that its likely that we start off a little too excited and nervous and look kind of bad early on because this is such a big game, but once we regain our composure we should be able to make up for it.

i think we could win both of the next couple games. i think it's kind of likely that we lose one of them and san fran is the more likely loss. i just don't come anywhere close to chalking this up as a loss. i'm not supremely confident, but i do like our chances.

I couldn't care less if the team is under the radar, over the radar, stealth, or whatever. Why does this matter so much? Who cares?

If all you're looking for is national press coverage and exposure, go root for the Dallas Cowboys. They've won 1 playoff game in 16 years, 1 playoff win since losing to the Panthers in 1996 yet they are in the spotlight week after week.

The Carolina Panthers have been largely irrelevant since their 2005 playoff run. 9 seasons of irrelevance, losing seasons, consistent mediocrity is not easy to overcome.

But, keep this in mind, those of you who simply cannot bear to see your beloved Panthers not getting national attention- the Carolina Panthers will be heavily covered and get more than their share of attention if they continue this run of beating media faves Atlanta, San Francisco and New England. And it goes to a whole new level should they beat New Orleans.

Until we actually play a playoff game, we willprobably be viewed as a pretender. We are unproven, true, but we are improving. We are at least is some discussions. Folks want to root for us, we just have to win them back.

Once we start making playoff appearances a regular occurance, that will be when the accolades and knobslobbering truly begins.

Personally, as long as we keep playing the way we are. Everything will work out. The culture up in here has changed. We are now a team that expects good things to happen, instead of hoping bad things won't. The ball, plays, calls, and those fugging WTF? moments all seem to be going our way lately.

I say, with this week being a 1:05 local time start. It very well coulb be just another game for us. Keep doing what we practice. Play physical, methodical, aggressive, and smart football. And we should spank yet another team. Vanquishing another enemy along the way.

If we put on our Big Brother, Bully of the Block unis. We really can spank the 9ers.

If we revert back to little brother and his wishy washy ways. We could very well get spanked.

IMO, as long as we play the way Rivera preps us to play. We gots this. The one thing you can do to slow down kaep is to contain and collapse the pocket. That is exactly how we attack. I like our chances to keep kaep in check.

 This 100%.

I always hated those fans that say, "I like being under the radar."  But then at the end of the season, "We haven't had success in three years.  Time to fire Coach."  Well, guess what, idiots.  You can't win and be under the radar.  Besides, this team needs to learn to win when the target is on their back.

I think this will be as physical a game we play all year. The 49ers offense has not seen a front 7 this talented, and our front 7 has not seen an Oline this deep. It's gonna be a lot of fun.

You do realize when we can't get pressure our dbs get picked apart? Aka not "fun"

    • Cam is the GOAT dual threat, but we've never been able to have back to back seasons with winning records despite the late season surge winning streaks, my favorite being the year we won the south in the 2nd half of the season. But winning 2 games late in the year against bad teams doesn't establish a "winning culture"  If they beat the Falcons bucs once, competitive against the chiefs and eagles i will have no problem with wins then because it's against legitimate competition but beating the giants and saints just to feel good, hard pass.
