Carolina Panthers - "The Flavor of the Month, Going to lose to SF"

I haven't watched a single Carolina game this season. I have only read a few articles at BR, watched a few highlights at NFL.Com and ESPN.Com, and read through a few comments at this--your--forum. Based on that very limited sample, I am worried about your team's D and nothing else. If your front 7 can stop our O line from doing it's run-blocking job, I think this game is a wrap in your favor. Otherwise this game is ours; and convincingly. Not a blowout. Not a last-minute defensive stand. To me, it feels like you are chasing better playoff seeding, while we chase the number 1 seed -- which I think will be cemented by a Week 14 win over the Seachickens.

Anyway, the whole reason for posting here is to make sure I get on your forum to predict my NINERS win so that when I return on Monday to crow it won't look so bad, from a trolling perspective. And yes, I will be back if we lose. I won't make excuses. But I'll gladly listen to any one of your excuses as to why the Panthers lost to my MIGHTY MIGHTY NINERS!

So, without resorting to team & individual player statistics or reciting the illogical conclusions drawn from who we beat, who you beat, who we blewout, who you blewout, who you almost beat, and who we got blown out by, I'm predicting a CONVINCING WIN: SF 27-20 (1 VD TD, 1 Hunter TD, 1 Manningham TD, and 2 FGs; for youse, 2 TDs and 2 FGs).

Decent post from an opposing fan.  Thanks for the civility.  I do not believe that the 49ers can put up 27 points on the Panthers D.  Think the Panthers are going surprise some people with a win.  I won't be surprised.

Well, to counter your point, I'm an effing film nut who watches way too much all-22 film for someone not working in the NFL, and I will say that your team is showing warnings signs of a defense relying too much on sheer physicality to and schematic vulnerability and an offense that would collapse if it faces any sizable deficit. I think your team is going to be very surprised when they get punched in the mouth by a younger, superior version of what they want to be. 30-13, Carolina rolls.

While Cam did have his best game I think it's ignorant to say he struggled throwing the football. He had a bad first half to that game and as a result the score was only 14-10. We still won 34-10 so it's not like he struggled and we struggled to win.

San Francisco is a good team. I think we are a better team tho and this comes down to coaching and turnovers. Who ever has the better game plan and doesn't turn the ball over will win

Ace I think it is more of a testament to how good Cam is. He is a game changer and he didn't have off the chart numbers.

What I like is the fact that every week someone gives the players ammunition to beat the dust off their competition.

I love it this way. We gotta work for the glory and the fame.

Honest question.

Who is more overrated as a QB? Kaepernick, or Bob?

They both take off after their primary read is covered, they are both protected from having to win games by the rest of their team. They both have demonstrated the same poor attitudes that people so desperately try to pin on Cam, while all the while receiving total immunity for such tantrums (lol at Kaepernick's hissy fit earlier in the year)

I'd say Bob.  Kaep isn't 100% reliant on his legs and he's not afraid to go downfield with the ball like Bob the checkdown prince.  I think the big difference is Kaep is JUST big enough as a QB to avoid injury.  I have a feeling RG3 will be routinely injured and we'll have to listen to "this is THE YEAR he does it!" for 8 years straight.

If your D is as good as you say it is (younger, superior versiion of NINER D), I agree with your prediction. If Gore and Hunter are stopped and we can't get some play-action going, we will not win this game.

Not to be a debbie downer but do any of you watch other football besides the Panthers?  Its irritating to here some of you so blindly confident.  We are going to the West Coast, against a very good, well coached football team who has had two weeks of rest while getting back their best defensive weapon and you think its a slight because people don't think we will win.

Hell I don't really think we will win, we can if we play really well and Cam is sharp and the defense stuffs the run but those are big ifs.  The 49ers are legit...we are still looking for a signature win.  It's completely rational to think that we can't overcome everything to win this game.

this morning on mike and mike's true or false game the question "True or False, the Carolina Panthers will open everyones eyes up by going in and winning in san francisco. Golic responds "The Panthers are the flavor of the month i'd say on that 4 game winning streak and i love the physicality they've played with throughout that stretch, but i say they lose in San Francisco." Mark Shlereth says "I think they lose in San Francisco although I like the way Carolina has been playing, last week you saw Cam Newton struggle throwing the ball again and although they still found a way to win, theyll have a much harder time doing that to san francisco"

I find it weird how the media can praise the panthers then say they aren't good enough to compete with san fran...

I think the Cam had a rough game last week automatically means that he's going to have a rougher game the following week is a bunch of Poo, they are each idividual games, now is there a chance of that happening? yes! considering Cam's play over the Course of the Season and Career for that matter(having two rough/bad game in a row) is it likely to happen?? I'd say no.

I do. And I'm not scared. It will be a huge challenge, don't get me wrong, but we're underdogs only by the lack of recent success, not because we don't have the talent or schemes to match up extremely well.

Kap and RG3 r equally overrated but id rather have kap than rg

Totally agree...we can match talent with a majority of the teams in the NFL.  It will be a really competitive game but I still think Aldon Smith coming back is going to be a huge factor.  Cam usually doesn't play very well under pressure.  If we can give Cam time the offense will be fine, and if the defense can stuff the running game we could definitely win.
