Agreed, its always tougher for a QB when you don't HAVE to blitz. That leaves 7 in coverage and that is something I believe kaep may struggle with. Only rushing 4 also allows you to have a spy (like you said) without forfeiting much (if any) in coverage. And yes, a major key is fresh lineman......and no fua.

I have a feeling we will see a lot of the defensive ends also dropping off into zones. The thing is, we have got to stop the run so we don't fall into the lull of bringing 8 in the back. As soon as we do that the option opens up as well as the stretch runs to the right side.

Gore is a great runner, but the panthers should be up to the task seeing as how they have the kind of front seven built to stop that.

The real threat is Kaepernick. He's more dynamic than EJ and can extend plays like Wilson does. He may not have Wilson's precision (or luck), but that means he'll just as soon tuck it and run for the first down, which will frustrate defenses

the keys to besting their offense is taking gore out if the equation. shut down the run, put them in an early hole, and keep their offense off the field, and give them a long field every possession will all make that happen.

 

you put them in a  situation where kaep is forced to throw early and often into a crowd of 7 defenders and make him start from around his 20 and we'll pretty much stall their offense...and these are things that are quite possible, even away.

The niners have had a fluff schedule just like the Panthers. Although, the Panthers did play much better against the Seahawks.
