Awesome Philly.  I too work upon demand and am not enslaved to the corporate time clock, allowing for creative indulgences into the things that matter most in life.  In fact, I work half days on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  I am off on Wednesdays if i want to be.  Mondays are a bear--I work until 3.  I am not a part timer at the Waffle House either--In my spare time I often contemplate the meaning of life, strategically plot how to attack the 3-4 defense, and frolic.

Gettlemen is the biggest free agent we signed this past winter.

How good will this team be after 2 seasons of Gettlemen?  If he keeps it up, Super Bowls are in the future.

people around the league  and even among our own fanbase and will look at our receiving corps and say that because we don't have a 1000 yard pass catcher that our receiving corps is bad.... but we'll end up with 4 receivers with over 700 yards and 6+ TDs each. i might  have some serious homer  on, but i don't see that as a bad thing at all. in fact i kind of like that.

people will look at williams witth maybe 1000 yards rushing but only a couple scores  and see a problem with that lack of TDs he has, but we have tolbert and cam in the  end zone which is probably the best goal line/short yardage duo in the league. williams and stewart are the between the 20s guys and keep us pushing  ball downfield, wearing down defenses and eating up the clock. it isn't glamorous, but it works for he team and i like it.

people will look at cam's drop in yardage  and a  lack of big plays as a passer and think he's regressing. they will look at a lack of significant growth in his stats and think  he peaked.  they will look at his lack of 4th quarter comebacks and consider that a knock on how good of a QB he is. the truth is he's grown as a passer. he's gotten smarter and became a lot better at utilizing the talent around him, protecting the ball, and controlling the clock. he's done something that i didn't think he would do or needed  to do in shifting from a big play gunslinger QB (which i loved) to a game manager QB who is always a threat to make the big play either thru the air or with his legs. i didn't think it was necessary, i didn't think it fit him, and i didn't like that role for him when i first saw them try it. but seeing how effective it is, i like it. i like it a lot.

we have a ton of talent on this team, esp. on offense. what we won't have, really, are players lighting up the stat sheets. we won't have fantasy football studs and that may make them look like there is a lack of star talent on the roster, but from a big picture perspective, what they are doing works really well. what we have is the most balanced  and complete team i can remember the panthers ever fielding.

and that's just the offense. the defense is even better.

we might make the playoffs this year.  i don't know how good we'll do if we get in, but this one thing i know, that we're just getting started. what we're seeing now is just a glimpse of things to come. when i see things like in the OP, poptart's game book posts, perspectives from football outsiders and grantland...i can't help but get excited about what's around the corner. what i see coming, i like.

Personally, I think Rivera's tweaked mindset has been the biggest positive for our team.  We could of been a playoff team w/ his current mindset pre-DG.

I think the next couple weeks will speak on Gettlemen's decisions this offseason.....he played w/ fire IMO with our OL and showed little faith in Ron doing so.  The next few weeks will show if that was true our if Gettlemen was wicked smaht.
