what 49er fans are saying

I think Kap has more straight line speed than Cam does and a bigger arm, but Cam has much more size and is quicker on his feat. Cam is more able to elude a defender laterally than Kap is.

Cam has one of the biggest arms in the league..  So you're saying Kaepernick has a top 3 arm?  That's news to me...

Kaepernick doesn't have a bigger arm than Cam, he's just incapable of throwing anything but missiles even if the situation calls for a at least some touch on the ball. Cam had that problem early on but has gotten much better at throttling down his short passes and improved his accuracy as a result.

I haven't heard anyone put Kapernick in the comically big arm talk....

Stafford. Newton. Flacco has a big arm but it isn't like Stafford or Cam either.

You've never heard the boasting of Kaeps 90 mph fast ball? That's all I hear is his big arm talk. He takes eons to wind up and throw it but the ball is moving when it leaves his hand(which will be a problem if Charles Johnson gets in the vicinity, love to smack the ball down)

that is why I don't put Flacco in with Stafford or Cam. They have big arms and get flick there wrist without setting up.....and throw it farther than most.

There's a baseball motion and a football motion. Kaep has a baseball motion much like The Golden Calf of Bristol. He's a strip sack master's dream.

Actually it was a 94 MPH fastball...when he was in high school....and about 60 lbs lighter.

Still has a baseball wind up. If he decides to throw from the pocket while it's collapsing Johnson may get a paw in there, which he is very good at btw, and knock the ball down before it reaches his release point.

You had better hope Kaep can have a big day.  Planning on running the ball effectively by the 49ers won't go well.  We have shut down all RB's and have allowed a total of 2 rushing TD's in 8 games.

Incorrect.

Kap might have the biggest arm in the NFL. Randy Moss spoke about it during Super Bowl week.

What does Sports Science say on the subject?

Anquan Boldin said yesterday that Colin has the biggest arm of any QB he's ever played with...and that includes Flacco. At the combine Colin threw harder than Cam did. Looking for the link on that one.

Throwing hard alone doesn't make you a great QB. You need to learn touch. There is no question about that...but don't tell me Kap doesn't have a huge arm. He might have the biggest arm in the NFL right now.

Edit: Found it.

A TD pass in New England last year was actually clocked at 60.4 MPH.

Its at the 21 second mark in this vid (which BTW is annoying as hel because I created that highlight reel before the NFL pulled it down and now this guy has reposted it to got awful music and poor video quality)
