what 49er fans are saying

We have our own Davis to take care of that  ;)

Luke has great closing speed too.  I think Luke can spy Kaep.

They are tough to defend, but if you put them in passing situations you can have success against them

Yes agree TD should be able to cover the underneath midranges. But if Davis goes deep, not sure he can keep up.

Wonder if we continue to run alot of nickel vs base 4-3. Not sure if Blackburn takes the field every time Gore is in. SanFran might try to take advantage of that.

I think the key to us winning this game will be long, sustained drives to keep our defense fresh. SF can wear you out with their rushing attack, but if we can keep the ball on offense for 6-7 minute drives, our D will be fresh all game. I do not want to see Cam airing it out on 3rd and 3 like he did against Atlanta. We'll be on the West Coast, so let's use a Bill Walsh-esque passing attack to sustain drives. We're way up there in TOP and fewest 3 and outs, which plays perfectly to how we can beat this team.

LOL.

I laugh because that's precisely what the 49ers will try to do as well.

This may end up being a low scoring game simply because both offenses are trying to milk the clock.  :)

Hey fellas,

First of all, best of luck to you on the upcoming play.

My thoughts on the panthers are that they are a very tough team built more or less in the same fashion that the 49ers are.

Tough hard nosed defense (front 7 strength)

Good, varied running game with multiple backs

Obviously, dual threat QBs

Average WR cores

I've thought for a couple of years you guys have been on the cusp of being a really good team. Now it looks like you guys are showing that on a more consistent basis. You guys have the perfect team to beat the 49ers. We have an easier time with teams like the Packers, Falcons, Saints (more pass reliant offenses) than against the likes of the panthers, seahawks (Tough D, good run game)

As far as both teams losses go

49ers

Seahawks(week 2) 3-29 - Don't get me wrong, we got outplayed in nearly every facet of the game and deserved to lose, but it wasn't as bad as it looked. The score was 5-3 late in the 3rd before a TO gave the sea hawks the ball in the redzone. From there we know what happened, but…..It was in SEATTLE. Tough place to play and obviously we were missing quite a few pieces.

Colts(week 3) 7-27 In this game, obviously we were banged up a little. Vernon davis, our best weapon, was out, but I think this is the game you guys should look to in how to beat us. Good, short, bruising runs and short passes to keep the ball moving. We don't sub on D much, so we are susceptable to getting gassed. This was a 13-7 game with about 10 minutes left in the 4th. Andrew Luck then lead a 80 something yard drive to score a TD, and then we proceeded to fumble in the redzone to set them up with an easy TD.

Panthers

Seahawks(week 1) 7-12 - I was really rooting for you guys this game, for obvious reasons. You guys played extremely well, and had the game for most of it. Even after Wilson lead the go ahead drive, I believe you guys were on your way to score before a fumble. That game showed me you guys were the real deal this year.

Bills (week 2) 23-24 - Another tough loss. Another late game comeback. If not for the bs  PI call on LK late in the game, you guys had it. Didn't watch much of the game, sorry I can't comment.

Cardinals ( week 5) 6-22 - No shame in losing to these guys. They're in our division and they're defense is legit. Great at stopping the run, obviously got to cam a good amount. I don't think we have the pass rush they have, but we do have the athletes to contain cam a bit. We had a very close game with these guys.

Position Breakdown

QB- Toss up. I think these are two of the better young quarterbacks in the league. Aside from Luck, I would probably go with Kaep or Cam over RG3 and Wilson. While both can play lights out, both are susceptible to dumb mistakes.

Backs - 49ers. I believe you guys are getting back Jonathan Stewart this week, which should be a plus, but in my humble opinion Frank Gore is the best RB on the field. Deangelo Williams hasn't been overly impressive this year, but he is solid. Tolbert and Cam are short yardage beasts.

WR/TE - Panthers. Steve Smith and Anquan Boldin are the two best receivers on the field, but I would give you guys the advantage because of depth. We should be getting Manningham back this week, but he will not be all the way there yet. Outside of Boldin, we probably have the worst receiving core in the league. I would put VD over Greg Olsen, but Olsen is no slouch.

OLine - 49ers. I like the Panthers O line(Khail, Gross), but they have a couple injuries going right now. Either way, the 49ers have the best O line in the NFL. 3 first round picks, 2 1st team all pros. This is more about the 49ers strength than a Panthers weakness.

DLine - Panthers. You guys have a great front 4. Maybe the best in the NFL. Greg Hardy is underrated, and Charles Johnson is an absolute beast. I can't say enough good things about the rookie Star Lotuleilei. I wanted the niners to trade up for him this year. He will be a pro bowler for years to come, and a player you can build a defense around.

LB - 49ers, and this one isn't close. I know LK is a beast(top 3 MLB easily), and TD is underrated. I don't really get why you guys traded beason, I remember him being very good a couple years ago. (I guess injuries). No knock on you guys, this might be the best position group in all the NFL. Just last year they had 3 1st team All Pros ( Willis, Bowman, Aldon) and one 2nd team All Pro ( Ahmad brooks). I know a lot of people were arguing Willis vs LK, but call me after Keuchly has 6 pro bowls and 6 all pro teams through his first six seasons.

DB- 49ers. A lot of depth at CB for us. I would say DB's are one of your team's weaknesses, but not glaring. I believe both our secondaries are greatly aided by the Front 7 on each team.

I'm going to predict a low scoring game, with the difference being the home field advantage and our coaching staff. 20-17 49ers, late score for the win.

QB is not a push....Cam is playing much better tha Kap.

Rb's are not SF advantage....Williams, Stewart, and Tolbert are every bit as good as SF's. This us a push.

LB...sorry bud. Keek and TD are flat out studs. LB's are a push.

The rest I agree with.

This should be a tough hard fought game. Styles mirror each other. Possessions will be limited as both offenses are strong in TOP. This will come down to ST and who makes the fewest mistakes.

Interesting.

Predictions I do not due in an shape or form. But from reading and watching games, I would say that neither of theses teams are outstanding on offense. If you stop Kp from running your offense stalls. Its really that simple. As far as people being"activated, I would not expect Smith to play this weekend. With Felony weapon charges and 2 DUI's I see the NFL stepping in and handing down some suspension soon.

Yes you have a top rated defense, however, they are not the #2 defense in the

I see this game being a very big defensive battle with whom ever makes the most mistakes loses.

Yea because Goodell is going to punish someone.for a crime they haven't been convicted of yet. Both of Aldons legal mishaps are still in the initial court proceedings so lay your weary head to rest because you're playing against Smith. Smith is really the tip of iceberg. We have a 3-4 starting calibre players.returning to the rotation. I hope your coordinators have planned for the rush because our rush is peaking.

I agree its going to come down.to turnovers.

I dont agree with the LB push. Kuechly is great. Hes playing better than pwill and bow but within their respective scheme Bow and Willis.are just as domimant. Not to mentions our LB core is made up Smith-Bow-Willis-Brooks. Its the most smothering unit in the league. Theyre going to have a week of extra rest and theyre getting their pass rusher back.

San Francisco has been good for 2 1/2 years. This could be the start of a similar run for Carolina. Hopefully this win will propel the team to the elites for the next 3-5 years.

As woeful as the team has been for the past few years, Carolina has actually won more games in the past 10 years than San Francisco has, 84-76.

I can give you cam newton, but while Cam has more yards and TD's. He also has more attempts and INTs. Kaep also has posted a QBR of over 99 two straight weeks. That's the first time that has ever happened. He has more rushing yds and a better average, too.

As a whole, the RB's might be a push. Here is our top 3 rushers vs. yours

49ers - (Gore Kap Hunter) 238 carries  1122 yards  13 TD   4.7 avg

Panthers - (Williams, Cam Tolbert) 239 carries  976 yards  9 TD   4.1 avg

LB, I can't even argue. Ask anybody that has no bias, the 49ers have the best LB core in the league. You guys are really good so it's hard to say we are better, but  4 all pro's in one year is all that needs to be said. Every single one of them made all pro

Pretty much how I see it but our Oline is decimated by injury. We will likely have a converted DT playing RG and our depth is razor thin now after losing about 5 starters/backups throughout the season. Not sure how we are going to mask that deficiency against a stout D like the 9ers.

I think RB is a push. They have a nice tandem though. Honestly it reminds me of the niners system. We run a nice 1-2 punch which is complimented by a mobile qb. I've seen two panthers games and this is how they do it. I would even say theyre a run first team that supplements with passing offense. I could he wrong. With that being said the niners oline is stronger and more dynanic. Alot of you are banking on your front and I cant wait to see the matchup.

Its falls under the section of NFL Player guideline. Its called departmental to the league and he has done it several times in the past.  Ask  Plaxico Burress or Adam "Pacman" Jones. Just to name a few.
