I don't think Kuechly is struggling imo, it's just that the DT's are making the stops for him.

There is no reason to give Kuechly any excuse for struggling other than he is a freakin' sophomore in the NFL. No player is going to be flawless. Cam should have taught you guys that. Star will struggle in his career, Cam has many more bad games in front of him. Hell Brees still has bad games along with PFM and Tom Brady. What matter is that Keuchly got an interception off a beautiful jumped route. He made all the plays he needed to make for an entire half with that. He doesn't have to win the game all by himself just like Cam doesn't have to win the game all by himself.

Yeah mr self preservation. I said it was Luke's fault. It wasn't man to man coverage and it's doubtful anyone other than Luke could've even made a play on that ball just because Gonzo is a big guy. If Luke doesn't step up to cover Douglas, that play is broken up. Ryan looked him off and Luke took the bait, simple as that. Watch the replay if you want confirmation.

I do think he struggled quite a bit against St. Louis and Tampa Bay.  It was pretty visible.  But it is no big deal.  He is just a second year player and mistakes and below average games are expected.

Still a top flight player in my opinion.

IMO, he is playing better than last year. Between the D-line stealing his tackles, and those pesky DBs getting in on the act, there are just fewer tackle for Luke to make.

He still gets washed out when he guesses wrong, but, so what. He is the unmistaken leader of this Defense. His numbers may be down. But his overall play is up, he covers better, he communicates better, he has more confidence in his calls, and this D responds to him.

But yeah, fewer tackles doesn't automatically mean he is not playing great.

Gonzo burnt the poo out of him in on that TD. Not that it wouldnt happen to many others, but still, he had a very good day against imo and that should impact Luke.

 

I'd have to watch the play again, but I imagine Luke expected backside containment in the endzone (probably Mikell). Highly doubt that they'd man up in the red zone...it rarely happens

Sorry PFF you don't have a top 5 defense with a mediocre MLB.  Just isn't happening.  Just how stifling is our run defense.  Atl got 78 yard and had a few 8 or 9 yard runs.  That mean the other runs had negative yardage.

People need to stop over reacting, up until this three game stretch he was the best in the league. Conversely people also need to recognise that their grades do reflect what has happened in the last three games. Look at the plays aside from the 3-4 highlights he performs per game and look at the whole body of work.

Perhaps he is just trying too hard to make the big play on every play. Ether way he has already shown he deserves to be at the top of the middle linebacker rankings and will get back to that level sooner rather than later.

Did everyone forget the INT he had, the successful passes he defensed against Gonzo and the massive hits he had on the RBs?  Struggling?  Please.  When we put Blackburn on Gonzo in Q2, it showed how good Keek is in coverage.  There was no safety help over the top on the TD pass.  Looked like a blown coverage, that was corrected at half time.

Well, if it's zone, his only assignment IS HIS ZONE. So there's your answer to that. It's really a simple concept. You don't drop out of your zone and try to be a hero. Have you played football before?
