causes for concern next week

And who has the 49ers played that is worth a crap on the schedule and won? No one. Any team that was good against them this season they lost. Colts and Seahawks. So in other words the 49ers have played just about as many crappy teams and won this season as we have. So I believe both teams are on level ground right now on both sides of the ball. The only big avg. the 49ers have right now is their home crowd behind them. Get up early on them and don't look back. This is the best thing for the Panthers can do. If we win, we win. If we lose, we lose. We go down fighting. We have nothing to lose at this point. Yes we might be 5-3. But we are lucky to be this far in the season with this record. I love it and we just need to go in swinging and go down swinging. That is the way I see it. Plain and simple.

the 49ers beat the

Rams...so did we

Jags...maybe worst team in the history of the NFL

Titans...struggling team

Cards....we should have beaten them

Texans....they are in a freefall and suck this season

Packers...only good team they have beaten

Our results and their are VERY comparable.

I see quite of few of you saying "study the colts...study the seahawks...they beat the niners why can't we?"

lol, well, the colts beat us because they only had one offensive weapon to worry about - Frank Gore. VD was out that game and of course Crabs and Manningham as well. All the colts had to do was put their best 2 DB's on Boldin and stack the box. They had it pretty easy.

The seahawks on the other hand; I hate making excuses for the seahawks because they are really just a darn good football team and they were built as the anti-49er team. But they too, played us while we were heavily injured. They took out our #1 DT with a cheap cutblock and proceeded to gash us up the middle since then. They also didn't put up any points until the 3-4th quarter if i remember correctly.

If you can run on us, you have a chance.

well, we have the 8th ranked rushing offense (and got there without our best overall RB, who is now healthy).

I think our defense is gives us the real chance.  I think our D will be the biggest test your O has seen this year (but you can probably say the same in reverse).

Does Stewart take Williams Job now? I liked the chemistry with the Williams/Tolbert combo but i am curious how you guys use all 3 going forward.

just a committee.  Everyone has different roles.  You will get looks with Williams, Stewart, Tolbert and Cam.  4 headed attack.

Stewart is basically a mix of both Tolbert/Williams.

Tolbert and Stewart might be better options against your tough D.  They won't try to run around you guys.

I think this is a sneaky good matchup for us.

ON DEFENSE:

Vernon Davis is who I'm most worried about on that O, and it really helps having Gonzo and Graham in our division. We've seen enough snaps from dynamic TE's that Luke and Thomas have a pretty good idea how to cover/defend impact players at that position. We really need to limit him and make CK throw to those guys on the outside.

I'm just going to trust that our defensive line isn't going to let the 49ers run the ball well enough for that to be the reason we lose the game. They've proven to be the strongest unit on the team through 8 games. Looking across the league (even though I'm biased) I don't see another d-line I would trade for our guys. They very well could be the best group out there. Also, I know they've seen plenty of read option over time in practice since we've ran that too which could be valuable experience come Sunday.

ON OFFENSE:

Despite having a banged up line, these guys are used to practicing against great competition in our 1st string d-line. I'm sure there will be some breakdowns and high pressure plays for Cam, but I'm banking on that they can get enough push to stay balanced on offense.

Obviously Cam can be the great equalizer even if things are breaking down. I think he is more dynamic than CK and can put the team on his back if called for. I don't get the same feeling from Kap.

Our WR group vs their secondary, however, doesn't fall in our favor. They really have to step up vs that 49er secondary and play an above average game for the Panthers to leave California with a win.

One little correction. The game is at 4:30 eastern time.

Oh, but Pantherman, you could not be more wrong.

The game has a 1:05 West Coast start time. Making it a 1:00 local time start. Making it just another game for us. Albeit, the players may feel otherwise, but to me, it is no big deal whether it starts at 1 or 4. lol

With the way this team is constructed. With mostly kids, and a few crusty vets smattered in. Both groups are still just trying to get this winning thing down. When we play good football, we be a pretty damm good team.

This team looks at the schedule and after a quick look see, they go straight to the next game. They don't care who they play next week. Let us know who to practice and scheme for this week, we good.

Road game, don't care. Pretty good young team, don't care. Give us a week to plan for you, we good.

Shula and Cam got the Offense humming. Rivera and McD got the Defense drumming. We good.

Riveria needs to be studying the game plan the Colts used to lay the smack down on them in SF

Every team that beat them since Kaep took over. Every Division game, every playoff game, any game they can find that can give us a clue on how to gash them.

And we ain't talkin' Utube here either.

This is our first Big Game in 3 1/2 years. Rivera knows the implications. He and his crew spent Sun. night watching film and throwing a rudimentary plan together. Did a presentation and handed out assignments today. Then go back at it. So when the team shows up Wed., we are ready to go.

With Ipads and such. When they come across a play, or idea, they can get it to the players instantly. They spend an inordinate amount of time Sun-Tue, gleaning info, and formulating a plan. Rivera and Co. put in the time needed to get their charges ready for battle. You can bank on that one CLT.

My biggest concern, is that Cam doesn't play particularly well against 3-4 defenses.

Not going to lie, this concerns me as well. In the back of my mind I see Shula and Cam coming up with a great plan to attack it. Doesn't matter what you run against us, if we stay aggressive, we can make you work your azz off defending us.

We may not have a Stud WR. But we do have a poo ton of weapons. Use them all and we are a tough out. Stay too predictable, and they can make our life miserable.

Man, this is going to be a long week waiting of this game.

i wouldnt either, but my point is that we have struggled against teams that either have a soild OLine or a mobile QB and next week we go up against both. we'll know just how good our D is after the SF game

We gave up 12 points to Wilson and through 59 minutes and 58 seconds we held Buffalo to 17 points.  I don't know if that is really struggling.  Truth is that winning on the road in the NFL is very hard to do anytime.  Winning against San Francisco on the road should be even tougher.  I don't know that this game means that much if we lose. We are underdogs as it is.  If we win however, it will be somewhat of an upset and worthy of praise.

    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
    • In my dream, we somehow luck into a top 2 pick and someone wants a QB bad and doesn’t want anyone else to jump them. Somehow we’ll probably screw up the picks anyway, but it would be nice to do even partially what Chicago did to us. We’d have to lose out, which is a decent possibility unless Tampa is resting. We need Atlanta to stay within a game because Atlanta beat Tampa twice. The rest of the draft slots are who knows because Jax plays the Raiders and then Tennessee and you never know who will rest starters. I think we are top 7 unless we somehow pull out 2 more wins. The 4 win teams have higher SOS and there is only one 5 win team with the same SOS. If we win 1 of 3, we still should stay in top 7. If we lose out and the Jax games work for us, we can easily be top 3.
