Hopefully Steve bounces back from whatever irritated him. He's a great player but he can't run as fast or jump as high as he did 6 years ago. He is still a valuable player for us, maybe he is mad about the production or maybe he felt like blame was misplaced. Steve probably doesn't appreciate our 4 headed running attack that gets the lions share of touches. We ran that route he hates, the WR screen. He always got good yardage back in the day but the DBs have learned to defend it.

I don't really mind Steve's production nor his mistakes. But we need a tight locker.

Who cares the fault...why do we always need to place blame. I'm just glad the team can brush these off and not have mistakes affect them the whole game

^^^ this. we have a history of issues dealing with adversity.  Arizona game was a perfect example.  After a couple of miscues everything went to hell while the game was still very winnable.

whole team stepped up through the adversity and put this game away (although lafell really scared me on that fumble).  the falcons def did their homework prior to this game and I felt they had a solid game plan and execution to keep this one close.

we are one game back on the saints, lets keep this ball rolling and win this division.

Need to find his replacement sooner rather than later.

It would be fine for him to move to the slot permanently, but we need a true #1 in the mold of Byrant, Jones, Johnson, or even a non retarded version of Blackmon.

While I agree with your post you just named three of the best receivers in football today. The reason they are the best is because they are difficult to come by.

Btw, I don't know if you heard but it was a miscommunication. Not Cam making a bad throw or Steve giving up on the route.

Coming back from the half the sideline reporter said that Rivera's comment was that the first INT was a bad throw by Cam while the second was the reciever giving up the route.

Said pretty much the same thing in the Presser.

Why are you folks still making so much out of this? What does Smitty not wanting to speak to reporters and being in a funky mood have to do with Cam?

Hard to come by if you don't pick one up with an early pick you mean, which is something we haven't done in forever.

Dez and Jones both were acquired by moving up in the draft, not easy to do, but we haven't went for it either.

Only a Panthers fan would see a 24 point lead as close game when their team is on the winning end. I swear some of you live in an Altered State.

FYI, 1-7 point lead is a close game. 24 or more point lead is considered a BLOW-OUT.

We got Star and Kawaan this year and Gettlemen did a good job with some stop gap guys. I have faith in his ability to grab someone.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
