Beason Compensation: 7th round pick

I am wondering though why the compensation has been so under wraps unless there are some sort of escalators based on his playing time or performance in New York, which I assume he'll achieve as he's been playing a bit there. If it was a flat seven I would've thought it would have just been announced at the time of the deal, unless Gettleman genuinely was doing Jon and his old team a solid, knew he was getting fleeced, and didn't want to deal with the fan backlash, which I highly doubt he gives two sh!ts about.

Good move. Now we have a pick in all 7 rounds for the 1st time in 4 years. Gettleman did as well as he could considering the circumstances.

Beason is worth way more than that to the Giants.  Dave's biggest feat in the Beason situation was taking him off the books next year and beyond, regardless of compensation.

-Holds out as a rookie - gets a big contract

-Gets another big contract when that one is up.

-Injured for over a year, partly his own doing

-leaves and we get a 7th?

Beason was downright unstoppable in 08 and 09. He was damn good in 2010 but the entire team sucked so meh.

 

From then on, he didn't do anything. He would have been gone after this year anyway, may as well get something out of it.

Beason may end up with more tackles than Luke this season. Highly unlikely, but Luke isn't a machine this year. Good thing stats aren't what matters. It's Luke's play that matters.

His leadership on the team this year would have been worth more than a 7th .. plus we gave away an all-pro LB to a team in the same Conference where he will thrive for years .. including when they play us!
