Charles Johnson Getting Some MMQB Love

Peppers was far and away my favorite player when he was here (my dogs name is Julius, argg), but I can't count on two hands how many times Peppers would be going into a game and everyone here would be licking their chops because it'd be against a rookie tackle or a second stringer due to injury and Pep finished the game with like 1 solo and 1 assisted tackle. And that wasn't being double teamed or throwing chip blocks his way. That was the thing about Pep that ultimately gave me peace about him leaving. Dude did not show up a lot of the time and I have no clue as to why.

Yeah the last couple years here he stopped caring so it was easy to say bye to him. But when he was younger and was racking up 16 sacks with ease. He was literally unstoppable

Yeah I don't know of any other defensive end the could chase down micheal vick in the open field in his prime. Peppers was an absolute freak. Even more so than clowney or anybody else that has come out.

Being an athletic freak and being able to catch Micheal Vick does now automatically make him a great DE.

And how are you guys just brushing off his last few years here like they don't count?  That poo counts!!  The fact that he actually started acting like a bitch and quit on his team, helps make my point.  Charles Johnson has been a better all around DE.  You Tarheel nut-sackers can deny it all you want.  But it's the truth.  Peppers was flashy and had athleticism to spare.  So what?

One thing I really like about Johnson is how consistent he is. Peppers was so much more dominant in a number of games, but then he would seem to disappear for stretches (and I'm not thinking here of his lost season whatever the heck happened that entire year.) With Johnson, I feel like the QB knows that if he pats the ball very long, Johnson will inevitably be close by.

Johnson is a top 4 4-3 DE in this league and likely our best D-Lineman.

He is and has been worth almost every penny.

I would even go so far as to say with him the Falcons might have made it to the Superbowl last season.

Peppers was more athletic and had more ability than CJ.  But CJ is a better overall Defensive End.  If you want a guy to make a highlight reel play every 6 weeks, Peppers was your guy.  If you want a DE to terrorize an offense CONSISTENTLY, CJ is your guy.

One is a 6 time All-Pro, the other has never made an All-Pro team. I think that says enough within itself.

Not to mention that one is very likely headed to the Hall of Fame as arguably the most accomplished and praised defensive lineman of the 2000's, whilst the other is likely just another guy after he retires.

Given his durability and being only 27, he's arguably the team's most important asset behind Keek and Cam.

An overlooked part of our rotation has been Johnson-Short-Hardy-Addison.  It's fun to see.  I love having a stout defense.

Yes you need a helluva an offense these days but it's in response to amazing defenses and I think we're getting there and close.
