Tolbert Provides Options

Tolbert's contract doesn't even really affect us.

He's like a 3 million cap hit at most for the length of the deal.http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/mike-tolbert/

Considering the level of play he brings, I think that's a good deal.

Some teams are know for their  WR ......we are know for our RBs  and i think we should keep this identity and grow on it.

The foundation of this offense is the running game due to dynamics backs & Cams running ability...This gives us multiple option in the run game, especially during 3rd & 4th down conversion and goal line situation = winning games.

We never imagined this off-season that Gettleman would bring us down under the cap like he did. I expect him to work his magic again this year and keep our backfield intact. I think we build on this offense through 2014 draft  (OG,OT, & WR) with elite defense already , we will have elite offense for years! :cam1:

If I were the GM, I would not have a RB on a second contract, unless AP was that RB. I would invest the savings in the OL.

Right now, it is working for us, but I have to wonder if we are not simply using the resources Marty left us.   Cam is better when the running game is clicking (all qbs are).  Since we have not shown that we can win a game when the running game shuts down, it is imperative that we run the ball.

The line is better than advertised, and that will improve by healing next year (Silatolu, Kugbila, Williams, Campbell).  In addition, I think we will keep Scott and maybe Wharton.  Pretty solid depth.  If we draft a T, we will have a pretty awesome line.

This may be an unpopular opinion:

However, I believe the best move would be to cut Williams after the season is over. Recognizing that Stewart, Tolbert and Barner are the the future rushing core of this team.

let's wait to see if Stewart can stay healthy.

because you may be making our rushing core Tolbert and Barner with that move...

frankly I'd rather keep DWill since I feel he's proven he can stay healthy and work within the offense we are running.  I think Stew will fit in fine too but I worry about his health.

I always thought the sooner you cut a man, the more money you have to pay him up front.

All about cap space. You can part with them, create dead money......but the available cap space to spend on other parts of the team can make it worth it.
