Why is Turner being run into the ground such a hot topic

Recommended Posts

and AP running into the ground is not? AP already has injury problems and had 13 less carries and 15 more receptions than Turner last year.

I think its b/c all the fantasy pubs are ranking him #2 and he's coming off a record number of carries in one season. Since he classically was a backup to LT people are wondering how he'll hold up!

Honestly, it's a legitimate possibility.

When Jerome Bettis was the Steelers main workhorse, he always wore down by season's end. Likewise, the Dolphins ran Ricky Williams into the ground. And yes, the Vikings might do that with Peterson.

It happens, and Turner fits the profile. Whether or not it happens to him depends a lot on the Falcons coaching staff.

I wouldn't worry about it. Their coaching staff is probably already mindful of the possiblity of overworking him, and will just give Matt Ryan even more freedom, along with getting Norwood more carries. Plus, even if he does show signs of wear, the Falcons can always spend a 3rd or 4th rounder on a decent RB in next year's draft.

I'd just be concerned if the rookies on defense can adjust and play well quickly, and if the team can translate last year's success to this year.
