Cam-isms

Rules&Regulations

Recommended Posts

Was just watching the latest interview on Panthers.com and dammit if Cam doesn't just crack me up. With that in mind, can we have a thread to put some of the funny stuff he says? This isn't to make fun, but to celebrate this funny quirk of our beloved QB.

Some good ones from this interview: "We have to bring our best foot forward." "We have to look each other in the mirror." And at one point he said to Person (I think): "We always have full practice on Wednesdays, Mr." I genuinely lold at that one.

Some all time favs are: "Simple and plain" and "Let the cat out of the hat."

It is funny to hear him say some of those.

Maybe we can take up donations and buy him a book of good cliches......

This thread seriously has me rolling. Trying to get through these presets is funny to me. I don't think public speaking is a good quality for Cam but he doesn't have trouble on soundfx or any other interview. Standing in front of people and finding answers to questions without really giving answers is difficult.

Dear Cam,

I don't care how many mixed metaphors and improperly used words you bless us with on a weekly basis.

Just keep throwing that rock the way you have been, and you can say whatever the hell you want.

Signed,

All Panther fans with a functioning brain

Seriously, some day he'll probably be famous for some of these quotes, like Yogi Berra back in the day.

spot on with the yogi berra.

for any of you young guys, yogi was a great baseball player back when baseball was cool. the thing that was awesome about him was what came out of his mouth.

Baseball is ninety percent mental. The other half is physical."

"I always thought that record would stand until it was broken."

"I don't know (if they were men or women fans running naked across the field). They had bags over their heads."

"I'm a lucky guy and I'm happy to be with the Yankees. And I want to thank everyone for making this night necessary."

"It gets late early out there."

"Nobody goes there anymore because it's too crowded."

"Take it with a grin of salt."

"You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going because you might not get there."

"We made too many wrong mistakes."

"When you come to a fork in the road, take it."

there's a lot of them here:

yogi was one of my favorite athletes/personalities ever because he was just so much fun...and no, i'm not old enough to have seen him play live.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Yogi coined the phrase "it's not over 'til it's over."

The Yogi-ism was more of a new phrase than a botched cliché and I think it stuck around because it was so on point.

Maybe Cam isn't an English major...but he can throw the ball seventy yards on a rope......so he can fumble around make up all the crap he wants on the podium.

Lol, don't have to be an English major to speak properly....

But cam isn't paid to speak properly and as a fan I really don't care, it cracks me up so it's good entertainment. I do wish he'd stop saying first and foremost and stuttering though...but the cliches coming from his mental chambers are great.

    • I think is overstating things on our O that should be said if we are going to position the convo as a make it or break it thing for Bryce.  I consider this year 2 for him and you often see regression year 2.  AT is not in reality a top 10 slot WR.   We force feed a vet WR in the slot that can catch.  Which generates statistics for AT.  He is more savvy rec TE at this stage than anything.  We just drafted TMac.  You can't really count him as anything except for a promising young WR that is about to have a rookie season.  XL is on the development train. 2 promising young WRs that both are going to have to grow into legit NFL WRs.  TEs are presently a below average group.  RBs are in reality are probably a pretty average group in reality.  Where we currently stand out IMO is our OL talent.
    • Overall I'm happy. We've never drafted a receiver this high and that's probably a big part of the reason why we've only had one elite tier level WR in franchise history. Scourton looked like top 10 pick material playing at a lighter weight then bulking up hurt his sack number while he overall still played well. We're going to play him at the lighter weight. Princely is a guy a lot of folks were hot or cold on. Hopefully the hot folks were right. But he has NFL measurables, had double digit sacks last year, and most importantly to me he showed steady progression as a player throughout his college career. The arrow is pointing up. Etienne surprised me. I wasn't expecting us to go RB this early but I think he's a solid compliment to Chuba and most of us expected us to draft a RB at some point in the mid to late rounds so it's not shocking. I don't love the Ransom pick simply because he's not the type of safety I wanted us to draft. I wanted us to draft a deep coverage specialist. But, that's the type of safety the Panthers have never seemed to value and it doesn't seem like anything has changed there. It is what it is. I didn't expect us to wait this long to add a DT in this strong DT draft but Cam Jackson was a guy we showed a lot of interest in throughout the pre-draft process so this clearly wasn't a panic move with DTs flying off the board. This is a guy we liked all along. Mitchell Evans is a well rounded TE that probably projects as an NFL backup which is fine at this point in the draft. Like Etienne, he's another guy with an elite 10 yard split time. What he lacks in downfield ability he makes up for in initial suddenness. That can end up being a lot more important on a football field than deep speed. Horn seems like a guy added at least as much for his return ability as his receiving ability. I like that for a late round pick. It gives a guy multiple paths to making the roster.
