MKG is really good at posting up. He made a nice move last night that he put up and went off the back of the rim. IMO, he needs more of those looks. Just like big Al, we need to feed MKG the ball in the post and let him back his man down more. However, teams can pack the paint when he has the ball because they know he won't shoot and he has nobody to pass the ball to who can shoot. Jeff Taylor helps this problem.

 

The problem with MKG from a fan's perspective is that he is not a scorer. We are so desperate to have a scorer and MKG was such a high pick that he becomes the scapegoat. If we have more scorers on the court, MKG because a valuable asset. Right now, he appears to be a liability (to fans) because he adds to the scoring problem.

 

IMO, We need someone who can create his own shot at the 2 spot. Hendo has shown he can do it at times, but disappears often of takes incredibly difficult, low-percentage shots. Taylor has the skill to do it (evidence in summer league, Eurobasket, and preseason) but seems to struggle with his confidence/self esteem in games.

Anytime you only get 7 points from your last two top draft picks...and you aren't the Heat....you lose.    Cody will look good in exhibitions when guys aren't playing hard....but he's a 7 point 4 rebound guy in this league I fear.   Jefferson showed why the Bobcats were able to get him last night.  MKG is a 12 minute a game guy for a play off team.  I honestly don't know of a guy on the team that could be built around or that attracts fans.  The Jordan saga in management continues.

 

God...I hope I am wrong.  Some of the best experiences I've had were at Hornets games back in the eighties and nineties.

Because Al hasn't been playing and is still nursing the ankle I believe.  You know he'll be fine though.

MKG is a scorer, not a shooter. He lived off scoring through the lanes at UK. I know that MKG is still trying to develop a shot, but if anything he should be able to score 12-15 ppg alone anyway without having a shot. That's my problem with him. We drafted him knowing that he didnt have a jumper, but knew that he was a good scorer by crashing the glass, cutting off the ball, in transition, etc. Where in the hell did all that go? Someone needs to tell me!

 

MKG was supposed to be a very advanced ball handler and made 75% of his FT attempts at UK too. Hasnt seen that.

 

I really am starting to think that the real problems with him is due to Mike Dunlap/coaching staffs and us throwing him to the wolves too early. I mean there was a report that MKG called Coach Cal multiples times saying he made a big mistake by leaving UK after one year!!!

Gerald Henderson is a shooting guard. But can't shoot a lick. I'm done with him. Most inconsistent player I've ever rooted for.

Mike CAN score but he is not a SCORER. He has shown some good ball handling skills and has been outstanding on the fastbreak (I believe he had a coast-to-coast last night as well as led the fastbreak and dished it off for an assist). He's got a long way to go on his shot but until he gets it to a respectable level, he will have trouble getting in the paint, where he excels.

 

As for the free throws, he shot 75% last year- exactly what you were asking for. Last night he went 1-5 but that's a small sample size and I know at least 2 came immediately after a HARD foul that he hit the ground hard and had to walk off for a minute.

I'm seeing some very insane things. Henderson can't shoot, MKG sucks and can't possibly get better, Taylor is the GOAT, Zeller sucks, etc. All too hilarious. 

 

Henderson had a bad game, but was a top 10 SG last season and averaged nearly 20 ppg after the All-Star break. He shot 44% from mid range (one of the best in the league), 33% from 3 (average), and 82% from the FT line. 

 

MKG is in his 2nd year and while he was disappointing last game he is still a top tier defensive player. 

 

Jeffery Taylor has shown me nothing that screams future starter. I like him and think that he will be a good role player in the future, maybe even as soon as this season, but MKG has been better than him. 

 

Zeller is a rookie who has played in one game...
