What grade does Dave Gettleman get...

B- for ignoring the oline and CB positions. Other than that, been great so far.

Kat, you have to remember the mess Hurney left--

OL:  Wharton, Kugbila (IR) Scott, Chandler (moved to OL from DL)

CB:  Munnerlyn, Florence, Moore, White

While there were no big money moves, these have served us well in the Cap hell Marty left us in.  I do not think we could have done better with no money.

It is a cop out but I give him an incomplete.

This off season is going to be huge. Expiring contracts, extensions due, the next draft, a possible coaching search, a cap iceberg.

I like what he has done so far. I guess I would give him an A to this point. But we are going to see what he is really made of this off season

Disagree. Incomplete is a legit option.

Bleys is right.

He's done a commendable job cleaning up our salary cap. Though some of it was only pushed back to later years. Still concern there.

I'm obviously happy with Star and Short, but the Kugbila pick is still troublesome. Ginn has been a good addition to our receiver corps, though rather unexpected. I'm disappointed with the Hixon acquisition, really nothing more than a waste of money and roster space.

As for the OL, I think he could have done a little more sooner to alleviate our issues there. Wharton isn't enough.

Overall I'm generally pleased with the job Gettleman has done so far, but I cannot offer a grade until the season is over.

I'm gonna give him the letter grade, Epsilon. It's a Greek letter. Why? Because it means about as much as any other letter associated with Gettlemans performance.

The man has a record of 4-3, erased a cap nightmare and seems to have breathed new life into a coaching staff that was already beginning to smell a bit. Can this not be enough?

How do you rate that anyways? Is it an A? Maybe a D because you still want receivers and corners. Give the man a little more than a short offseason and half a regular season to make his mark.

Ps... Aren't GM's, much like QBs and Coaches, graded by how many rings they get?

I love Kawann Short, and, at this point, I wouldn't change a thing because he is a Panther, but I fully expected us to draft Keenan Allen if he were available, and with some  Now looking at what Allen is developing into in San Diego in such little time, and is even getting compliments from players on other teams, I think that we may have missed out on a great value that was right there for the taking, filled a greater need (considering we had just drafted Star and extended Dwan), and a player that may have made more of an impact for us than Short. But, it's all just speculative. Even still, I am just being honest.

I also have to grade him down for Kug, which was more than a little bit of a gamble being that he was a project in round 4. The other picks in the draft added depth, and I'm good with that.

Our FA acquisitions may have been about the best that we could do, but we still were being perhaps a little too cheap, and it seems like we could have gotten better value with the Hixon pick (may as well have kept Gettis and allowed him to sit on the bench as much as Hixon brings), and I also think that we may have been been able to do a little bit better with the O-line, especially when things started going south with the injuries. This also brings me to another head scratcher of why we keep bringing back Fua when an O-lineman was more in order.

BTW, he gets no credit from me for Star whatsoever. That was a no-brainer.

This. Way to early to grade him.

but not much GMing remaining

an example would be.....

he entered this season with an OL weak at many spots with virtually no depth.....we have a lot of football left.  That gamble still has a lot of football left to show it wasn't a poor decision.

we only have 4 wins at the moment.  Lot of football left and legit competition coming up.
