Julius Peppers

If I heard him say it was a mistake to leave Carolina and he wanted to finish his career where he started, I'd say WELCOME BACK.  Otherwise, shove off.

and came back for real cheap and was content being a 3rd stringer (which he would just about be behind CJ, hardy, alexander, and addison).

i just don't see it happening, tho.

if we let hardy walk and brought pep back, we'd be taking a big step backwards.

if the choice is hardy or pep, we go hardy.

There is NO reason for Pep to still not be dominant at his age right now, he's just lazy. Look at guys like John Abraham, Dwight Freeney...etc it's really a shame he's actually a supposed HOFer cause he doesn't deserve it.

plenty of reasons Pep shouldn't be dominant at his age....he is in his 12th year.

You bring up Freeney who came in with Pep....he also isn't dominant either anymore.    He isn't an example countering Pep.

Peppers? Julius Peppers?

The guy that gave us the finger because he couldn't handle the responsibilities that are inherent upon franchise level players? The guy that turned down a contract making him the highest paid defensive player in the league after a 2 sack season? The guy that consistently disappeared in big games and against what was considered inferior opponents? The player that wanted to be left to his own devices while cashing checks with no accountability? The monster of an athlete that teased our fan base with rediculous plays and huge numbers only to spit in our face when times got tough?

That Julius Peppers?

Nah man, just nah.

Freeney was having a decent year before he went to IR. I read on twitter that even after the Giants game vs the Bears, the coaches reviewed the film and Peppers posted NO stats, not even an assitant tackle. This was against a shaky Giants o-line mind you.

A half sack in 4 games?

Last year 5 in 14 games

Year prior 8.5

10 before that?

Peppers has played better than Freeney. They are old DEs now. They aren't the examples of who should be dominating

I know people think Peppers would be a good stop gap if Hardy left but to be honest I don't want us to rely on Peppers to make any kind of impact. He simply does not make plays when the game is on the line, when guys of lesser talent do. I know a lot of people disagree with that but that's my opinion.

Now if we resign Hardy and then brought back Peppers that would make probably the scariest defensive line in NFL history. You keep Pep fresh but his ego probably believes he is still a #1 DE and he would not be that here.

He definitely looks like the fool now. Chicago is going down the gutter and for a 2 million dollars less, which he found so insulting he  could have been playing with Cam, Olsen, Steve, Star, Kawan, CJ in his prime, now Greg Hardy, Keuchly and a healthy Thomas Davis. I'm glad he left because we got the better end of the deal and our franchise is so much better off now.

He should only come back if he gives us a major discount.

EDIT: Actually didn't Peppers publicly state we didnt offer him enough money? Then he signed with Chicago which literally offered a few million less?

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
