Well, now that the trade deadline is over, we can relax (Gordon nor anyone else is coming).

i glad some of you are so sure gordon will be suspended for a year soon, please continue predicting the future. IF im correct he did this once...............doesn't mean it should be written in stone that he will repeat the same offense some of you guys need to get off your high horse people occasionally make mistakes, with that being said that trade was nothing more then a dream for us fans

Questionable is an understatement.

Superstar is an overstatement.

What do you think we could have given up and gotten him?

JOAT, this is water under the bridge. You know we could have probably gotten him for a second.

Maybe he'll get caught smoking pot and be suspended for a year so all the Know-it-alls can say I told you so, and all others can breathe a sigh of relief. Of course, more than likely he would be coming back a year later after learning his lesson. That, or burning out of the league period, or like Ricky Williams only to return and have a few years of above average play. Or, he may be a better and more committed version of Randy Moss, along with the likes of Megatron, Dez Bryant and Julio Jones.

Panthers fans can watch it from afar.

Do you crybabies realize that the Panthers could have made an offer for one of these receivers and you likely would never know about it? Maybe after Gordon's performance against the Chiefs, the Browns decided they'd up his price to a first rounder. Or maybe they decided not to trade him at all (which the front office claimed time after time in statements to the media).

Maybe after the Giants won their 2nd game in a row they decided they wanted to keep Nicks in attempt to pursue the division title ...which is very much possible in that division.

And wasn't Blackmon being put on the trading block just speculation? Regardless, I doubt they would accept anything less than a 1st for him.

Armchair GMs are annoying as hell.

Ultimately, most of us "crybabies" as you call us are good with G-man because we realize that he is new, and he seems to be sensible when balancing talent, cost, chemistry and other factors of building a team which lends to being conservative (i.e., safe).  At the same time, after all the years of having basically neglected the WR position, you should expect that many Panthers fans are not going to be as patient as the FO when considering to trade for a highly talented WR for what equates to an early draft pick, especially when making the playoffs (or more) is within the realm of possibility. But, after all, we do understand the rationale behind taking the safe route, even if we don't necessarily agree.

Furthermore, it was reported that Gordon could have been had for a second pick. But, for arguments sake, let's say the Browns changed their mind blah blah blah, the fact is is that if we had moved a little earlier, they wouldn't have had time to change their minds, nor the price. But, like I said earlier in this thread, it's basically all water under the bridge. The trade deadline is over, we have to deal with the situation for what it is, and hope for the best, even though everyone who isn't sticking their heads in the sand knows that our offense would benefit greatly by having another consistent, game-changing playmaker at wide-out. This is something to talk about. It has been talked about, and it's something that will be talked about, especially, God forbid, that one of our key guys gets injured.  Just accept the fact that until we actually make some moves, the question of our receiving corps is going to come up from time to time, and especially if it rears its ugly head at key times in the form of general ineffectiveness due to drops, lack of separation, and/or injury (to Steve Smith, and now even Ted Ginn).

People who whine about football fans expressing their opinions on a message board are the most annoying presence on the damned message board in my opinion.

And who are these reports from (regarding the Browns wanting a 2nd for Gordon)? They're not reports, they're RUMORS. Nothing more than gossip...the team stated again and again that they had no plans of trading Gordon. I don't doubt that they fielded offers for him, but when you "field offers" for a player you are not actively shopping, then chances are you're keeping him unless you are given a ridiculous offer...my guess would be a 1st round pick. A 2nd for Gordon doesn't make a whole lot of sense given the Browns gave up a 2nd to get him just a year ago and he has undoubtedly performed better than they could have hoped. The latest I read about this was something along the lines of a couple teams offering a "high pick and a player" for Gordon and the Browns were balking, meaning the offer was basically insulting. And this was probably the most credible source to come from these rumors...being from Adam Schefter.

For the record I have no problems with people questioning management decisions, but the manner in which you did it is petty and obnoxious. You chose the most coy and snide way to get your point across, in an OP littered with sarcasm directed towards our GM who hasn't even been with the team for one season. Oh and again, all over trade RUMORS...

Since you like to base your analysis off of hypotheticals and rumors, I'll throw another one out there: the Panthers offered a 2nd for Gordon but Chud did everything in his power to convince the GM not to pull the trigger on it because he was bitter about how our players came out and criticized him after he left for the Browns. We all know he has the ego for it...

Yeah that might be a little out there, but so is you thinking you have behind-the-scenes insight on what our GM does behind closed doors. Unless you think the Panthers should have done 'whatever it takes' to get Gordon, then I really question your judgment.

I knew from the beginning it was unlikely. Browns probably wanted at least a 1st rounder for Gordon, if they wanted to trade him at all, but no sane team would've given a 1st rounder for a guy who's one purple drank sip away from being banned for one year. Highest I'd have gone was a 3rd that turns into a conditional 2nd if he doesn't get banned for the time up until the draft. Ultimately he's more valuable to a rebuilding Browns team who's willing to take a risk on a very good WR that has maturity issues.

Where has he been cited for purple drank? Or is this another.....no need to call you out board is full of them.

He tested positive for codeine which of course he took in his "cough medicine." Wink wink

I read that but, in other cases its been public knowledge that said player(jamarcus Russell) was using "purple drink". Haven't seen that with gordon, to bunch everyone into the same boat seems wrong to me. Kind of like saying a person who was on cocaine (like scareface) is a crackhead (tyrone biggums)
