Get Cam Newton out your mouth, Mike Bellotti (just another opinion is all)

top dawg

I can understand and sympathize with the bias.

The questioning of character? Work ethic? Intelligence?

That's pretty low class.

Yes, but I didn't allow myself to make it that far through analyzing his worthless, and obviously biased, opinion.

I could care less what this homer has to say about my QB.

I agree with him. Cam has always just been the best on the field and could beat teams with superior athleticism and effort. That's no longer the case in the NFL and he's having to reel in the highlight stuff for more consistent, smarter plays.

To play off of Smith's recent comments- Cam went from being the very best checker player around, but now he's graduated to chess. The learning and development process continues and Cam has a very high ceiling.

So you agree with someone who's calling out his work ethic/character without having met him personally?

I just didn't interpret it that way. I think he's saying his guy does have the natural gifts Cam does and HAS to work harder to accomplish the same, or less for that matter.

I think he's saying Cam is putting the mental aspect together with the physical freakiness and we're seeing it payoff.

Bellotti said Mariota is a "better student of the game" than Newton, and that Newton -- a 6-foot-5 and 245-pound physical marvel who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds at the combine -- has been able to rely on his natural gifts to get by.

"Cam has never had to work as hard, and I think he is finally now starting to get it and spend time in the classroom with the coaches," Bellotti said. "A lot of things come really easy to Cam. I think he still thinks he can just go out there and do it. I think Marcus is a combination of the athlete and the student."

He clearly called out cam's work ethic in the bolded statements.

He wouldn't, but I still think he's slamming his guy by saying he works harder because he has to.

Cam never had to push himself like he is now because he never needed to, he was clearly better. Look at his time at Auburn and Blinn. Even at Auburn, in the SEC with crap teammates, he ran roughshod over the competition because he was simply on another level.

Now the disparity in talent isn't as great and he's having to develop other aspects of his game.

Look what former Ducks coach said.

Depending on one's perspective, this is actually a good thing. Cam must be doing something right (even though Bellotti doesn't fully realize it).

I keep tell you folks, Cam and his father pissed off some of these college coaches who have connections with ESPN. They not only seem quite jealous of him, They always have a QB who is better than him. Why are they not comparing their QBs to Luck? Isn't he the "QB of the future."
