Yes partly but as I said if he continues to develop and improve along with our dts I see no point in hindering the team even more by paying 2 des an insanely amount of money much like our rb situation

Seems some people might be mistaken. This is just for this week and were just from the 7 games they had reviewed up to that point, not overall on the season or even the week.

Although I am pretty positive Hardy and Johnson are both top 10 on the season.

Addison?  Wow.  That is awesome.  Here is why I think that presents Gettlemen with an interesting dilemma:  Do you re-sign Hardy and put 20% of your salary cap in the DE position when you have another pass rusher who has shown the ability to disrupt?  Alexander is not slouch, and Horton needs a year or two to be pretty good.  It is a good problem to have.

 

Should we extend Hardy, I see a major reworking of CJ's deal happening sometime in the next couple years.  It'd be likely we may even cut him around that timeframe, and while I'd love an early WR pick this draft, I would certainly be fine with drafting for the lines.  Strengthen one strength and improve a weakness all at the same time.

Its all relative. Our rush D is 1st in attempts and 2nd in yards. The middle is still the weak spot even after Star and KK. However, keep in mind we have heavily rotated those guys and I imagine less yardage was given up with Star in the lineup compared to Fua.

 

We've still only had 1 bad day against the run, Buffalo. We kept Lynch and AP in check.

Id still resign hardy because of his vicious atitude. It spreads to other players on defense. Most of all he just bring that beef and toughness to that side of the line. Putting money into the DLine is not bad.

If you have good offensive and defensive lines, it makes the other posistion much better than the inverse.

Defensive end is an entirely different situation than RB,

Productive RB"a these days can be found throughout the draft take a look at the top 20 pass rushers only TWO (Robert Mathis and Greg Hardy) were drafted after round 4 with the with 10 being first rounders which isn't even bringing into play that Hardy is also solid vs the run.

If your going to spend money in the NFL you want it to be on a QB LT and DE in that order and seeing as we will have to draft a Lt or Rt and hopefully an offensive playmaker next season it's money well spent on Hardy.

Yes I know the positions are different and that wasnt close to my point if we give hardy cj money that leaves us with well pretty much nothing especially when you have young pass rushers who are developing well I dont think we can continue to bank on 1 year signings to continue to play well for us especially in the secondary we have a lot of holes to fill on the offensive side of the ball which means we wil need to sign a few impact fas cant do that if you pay hardy a ridiculous amount of money as well having cam and kuechlys contract coming up in the next few seasons

As much as this pains me to say. Hardy will not be a Panther next year. It is a money thing. This is Hardy's 1st big contract. We are not going to be close to matching it.

Love his attitude, ferocity, and his persona. I love what he brings. This is why you hope to restock well. When he is gone, its next guy up.

We are lucky in that our interior is taken care of, as is the LE position. We can absorb his departure better than most.

But...unless Hardy goes full retard, which we all know just isn't done, he will play elsewhere next year. Unfortunately, we just cannot afford to pay him what he should demand.

Now if we did not have CJ, that would be a different scenario. We might could offer him enough to stay. Maybe not elite money. But close enough that we are both happy. 4 yrs. 24mil.
